Cardinals restricted free agent quarterback Brian Hoyer has signed his one-year contract offer from the club. The NFL disclosed the move in its Wednesday transactions.

The 27-year-old Hoyer was given the second-round tender by Arizona. He was the only restricted free agent tendered by the Cardinals.

Hoyer is one of four quarterbacks currently on the Cardinals’ roster, with newly signed Drew Stanton and John Skelton and Ryan Lindley the others.

Hoyer appeared in two games in 2012 for Arizona, starting one. He completed 30-of-53 passes for 330 yards with one TD and two interceptions.

Hoyer received the second-round tender from New England last March but was released before the start of the regular season.

  1. We still do not know what Belichick saw that made him first like keeping Hoyer to where Belichick finally had to make the decision to cut Hoyer and set him free. Of course, Hoyer’s time with AZ is not a true indicator since every QB Whisenhunt has tried to develop has regressed to where they become checkdown charlies. Hopefully, Hoyer can shake off any nonsense the Whisenhunt regime tried to “develop” into him.

  2. Check this out Stanton and Hoyer are just stop gap QB’s no one is saying they can get the Cardinals to the playoffs let alone the World Series. Stanton And Hoyer are gonna hold us down till we draft our future QB probably just not this draft but the next… Arizona Cardinals haters just go away keep our negative opinions to your selves.

  3. I believe in what Arians is selling, he obviously sees something in Hoyer and Stanton that the fans don’t see. If this pans out I can’t wait to hear what all the people talking trash have to say. And to the above commenter, I didn’t know it was possible for a football team to go to the World Series

  4. Take a serious look at quarterback Vince Young. He’s 6′-5″,.. healthy,.. mobile,.. has a strong arm,.. has playoff experience,.. a proven winner in the NFL (31-19) and plays at a high level…. You can’t go wrong by bringing this guy in for a TRYOUT….
