Now they can call it the Mike McCarthy rule since there won’t be a penalty when it’s thrown on a reviewable play. Being that he did the same thing Schwartz did when the Packers played the Vikings, but no penalty and he got the review anyway.

I disagree, I can’t stand Schwartz is worse, ALWAYS see him nagging on a referee.

I remember this one game on Thanksgiving he’s was trying to defend Suh (he’s your guy and I understand) after trying to stomp someone’s face in.

If he would have used that chance to real in Suh, I would have more respect for him. I also thing you prevent some future instances like Titus Young fiasco.

Sometimes you need to let players know when they are in the wrong.

Look at how much Vernon Davis matured.

I think the rule goes like this. If you challenge a play that will already be reviewed you are charged a time out. If you don’t have one you take a 15 yd penalty.

Before, as Jimbo found out, throwing the flag stopped the ref from doing a automatic review and the play stands. Frankly that I don’t get. Someone had to see this coming and that was someones best idea to avoid a conflict?

Except Mike McCarthy never got penalized for it. The Refs just looked the other way.

It’s time for the jim hairbow rule. The coach gets flagged for every time he whines to a referee. I can see the 49ers rolling up 300+ yards in penalties per game.

As for last year, at the end of the day, it helped make the Texans-Lions contest the most entertaining of the Thanksgiving games AND the Lions draft 5th instead of, likely, 8th. So, not a total loss for Detroit fans.

It doesn’t sound like they fixed this rule entirely.

Previously, if the booth referee decides a turnover/scoring play does not need to be reviewed, the coach still can NOT challenge the play.

This bothers me, because the Ref is supposed to have final say on booth reviews, and under this system they don’t. Neither do the coaches.

What’s the harm? The coach throws the challenge flag, ref reviews. If the challenge is lost, the team loses a challenge. Just like any other challenge.

This one is about the challenge flag.

They must be voting on the post game handshake rule, and every time you show a HC on the sideline he shouldn’t be whining into a refs’ ear next off year, or maybe they can push that into May.

Well that game had playoff implications (somewhat) so I wonder…
Referees cause coaches unnecessary stress and appear in their nightmares…has anyone conducted research on bad refereeing and how taxing it is psychologically?
I’d rather have Rex Ryan tell me we’ll win the Super Bowl every year than get penalized for my emotions…

Stupid. They should also make it a rule to not review a play if its not a score or turnover and the coach doesn’t throw the flag.

Sad it took this long for this to happen.
