I would have been more excited about keeping Louis Murphy. At least he could catch a pass. Pilares, Edwards, and Adams should be able to run back kicks without having getting out of bounds as the goal.

Ginn will give you a big play here and there on special teams. But, he is worthless as a WR. He couldn’t beat out a washed up Randy Moss for playing time last year.

So Cam Cameron said some stupid stuff after drafting Ginn. That’s not Ginns fault. And although the Phins totally reached for him, let’s not forget that people were only so upset about that because they wanted the team to draft Brady Quinn in the spot they took Ginn. That wasn’t such a big loss in the end now was it? Ginn has elite speed and is a HR threat. He improves the Panthers WR group.

Yet therein lies our own problem too, we need to quit finding the #2 behind Steve Smith and find a true #1. We keep finding 3rd and 4th receivers to try to be our #2 guy, and they never amount to much.

Call me crazy, but considering our WR corps (Armanti Edwards, really?), this might not be a bad pick up on the cheap. If the man could catch a ball (how does someone groomed to play WR for YEARS now, not do his own job well?), then he could be a surprise #3 behind Lafell. You never know, bring him in cheap on a 1 or 2 year contract, and at very least, you’ve got an upgraded return specialist.
