Adam Jones looks like he’s staying in Cincinnati.

On Thursday morning, the veteran cornerback / punt returner wrote on his verified Twitter account that he had reached a three-year contract agreement with the Bengals, with whom he has played the last three seasons.

Jones played all 16 games (five starts) for Cincinnati in 2012, defending nine passes and recording 40 tackles. Pro Football Focus, which grades player performance, rated Jones as its sixth-best cornerback in coverage last season. He figures no worse than the Bengals’ third cornerback in 2013.

Jones also adds value as a punt returner. He racked up 301 yards on 26 returns a season ago and brought back a punt for a score against Cleveland.

A series of off-field incidents threatened to derail Jones’ NFL career in its early stages. And there is no doubt that his past is a material part of his legacy. However, he has appeared to find some professional stability in Cincinnati in the last few seasons. And now, as he approaches his 30th birthday in September, he continues to have a spot in the league -- and he looks to have garnered a multi-year contract, too.
