For example, Brady and the “Screen” do you know ultimately the Eagles lost the SB b/c Brady through screens to the backs for most of the 2nd half. If we had a big end or LB (forget Jevon Kearse, he was weak) with instincts, strength and speed, we could have countered that. Look at players Jason Pierre-Paul, Darnell Dockett, Julius Peppers and JJ Watt, these players are hard to contain b/c of their length, size and speed.

I’m a die hard eagles fan but obviously Eli manning is leaps and bounds the best quarterback in the division. Vick in his first couple of years in the NFL was much more durable then what we’ve seen from RG3 who’s a career ending injury waiting to happen. Nobody thought the redskins would win the division at the beginning of last season so nobody really knows how the division will play out next year. Chip’s got a plan and yes the sabans and pitrinos were complete failures but harbaugh and carrol seem to be doing just fine.

They’re not undersized guys, but most also weren’t drafted by the Eagles for JJ’s defense.

Bobby Taylor ’96, Troy Vincent drafted by the Dolphins and acquired in a trade, Trotter ’98, Carlos Emmons drafted by the Steelers ’96, Thomas ’98, Hollis Thomas ’96, Dawkins ’96.

Jim Johnson didn’t get to Philly until 1999, almost all of these guys were leftovers from Ray Rhodes. Andy loved drafting undersized “high-motor” guys, which came after all of these guys were done.

Was there a FA QB better than Vick for Kelly’s offense? Even the QBs that were available via trade aren’t that much better than Vick/Foles, and for a team that’s rebuilding, weren’t worth what it would take to get them (e.g., Alex Smith for what the Chiefs gave up for him).

Objectively speaking, with the additions and changes, I think a 6-10 or 7-9 season is feasible, improving on last year and leaving the Philly fans hopeful for the future.

Everything really makes sense. He seems to be a very intelligent guy.
However, what still worries me is the QBs on the roster. Not one of them can take the Eagles anywhere. Rank the QBs in the division and the Eagles are last… that worries me.
I get CK wants a mobile QB, but Vick is not the answer for any offense.. sorry. Work with Foles, I think Tom Brady is making the hurry up offense look stellar up there.. (not saying Foles is TB, nobody is TB)…

It’s because his gimmick college offense got stuffed when he encountered defenses with size. Nick Fairly for Auburn almost single handedly stopped his offense in the national championship.

Eagle fans should hope Kelly also learned he needs some size on offense because if Oregon had a blocking FB , Kelly would have a ring on his finger. Auburn stuffed them at the goal because they couldn’t move that DL.
