Amazing – Ravens fans are still convinced that paying Flacco $52 million over the next two years and $120 over six, is a cap friendly deal that won’t impact their ability to re-sign veterans.

They’re now trying to convince themselves that Reed, Pollard, Boldin, etc are old, washed up guys that they didn’t want to keep anyways – and that the team is now stronger.

Not a fan of Pollard’s and didn’t want the Titans to go this route. But like the George Wilson signing so maybe his intangibles will help cancel out Pollard’s sometimes polarizing personality.

And they for sure need someone who plays with more fire than Michael Griffin roaming the middle. Still have no idea why they gave Griffin a big-money deal last year.

Dude is a beast when it comes to laying the wood. In a short time he became one of my favorite Ravens. Watch this years playoff games against the Colts & Pats again and see how the receivers simply refused to go across the middle and make catches by the middle of the third quarter. Pollard will knock you out cold..just ask Stevan Ridley, although he may still be unable to remember much of that game.

For all of the Steeler fans yapping about Joe’s cap hit, move on. Pollard’s departure wasn’t about his own salary. Part of the reason was pass coverage deficiencies and the biggest part IMHO was his vocal leadership in the locker room that rubbed Harbaugh and the brass the wrong way. Notice that all of the players involved in the late season locker room mutiny are now gone.

Time to revamp the Defense and what better time than now. I’ll take a bit of a down season next year if it means grabbing some younger players that help us win in the future.

1. Pollard is a big hitter, but a poor coverage safety.
2. Pollard has been on 3 teams in 6 years. Maybe there’s a reason for that, and it has to do with his off field attitude, not his on field play.
3. The Ravens D was horrible last year; the worst in their history since 2000; and was in need of a total revamping.
4. The team has made the transition from a heavily D oriented team to a team driven by its franchise QB — who has outplayed every QB you can name over the past 5 years. And that was under an oppressive OC who couldn’t get out of his own way. Once Cameron was gone, then the real Joe was really able to emerge. And it’s just beginning. Give him a full pre-season with Caldwell, and it’s only going to get better.

Sorry indywilson40 but the Patriots are not scheduled to play the Titans during the regular season. But it is good to see fans of other teams wishing injury on a team that their team is incapable of beating.

why do all you morons think Flacco’s contract have anything to do with the purge?the defense wasn’t really any good last season, most of the one’s who are gone were old players. they do this evert year. morons need to worry where your sorry teams will be next season.what will pats do now that there is no Brady rule? what will steelers do now that they still have a ton of old players?colts = fluke , denver, one good hit on ” the forehead ” and they are done.did i leave anyone’s sorry azz team out?

Its ok, some of them are still getting over the whininess and poor sportsmanship that they developed via their prior QB and GM.

I wish him luck, but he has 6 broken ribs and the game is changing. The Raven’s D wasn’t that good last year and they need to adjust. I hated to see Bolden go more than any – but I still trust that Ozzie knows best.
We may not be at the top of our game next year, but how many of you can say that your team JUST WON A SUPER BOWL.
Do you know how hard it is to have payoff wins 5 years in a row? … or even make the playoffs, period?
I guess this is shocking to a lot of people, but most close Ravens’ watchers knew this was coming…but it was worth it.

Pollard is a great run stopper, and if you have the Patriots on your schedule he could be a real help.

But he’s not a pass stopper and game seems to be moving toward better coverage guys. Also he gets a lot of PF penalties as refs seem to be watching him.

The so-called “vaunted Raven defense” wasn’t very good last season, so it won’t be as hard to make up for losses as might be thought.

Now, cue the unending clueless “this is Flacco’s fault” comments.
