really? what about the superbowl mvp? pierce? torrey and jimmy smith? webb? pitta? ngata? yanda? osemile? jones? i mean the list goes on and on. i actually wish the dolphins well. would love to see someone finally knock off the pats. but spending money on overpriced free agents isnt the way to go. you build through the draft and fill in with free agents as needed. its the proven key to susatined success in a salary cap league. again...good luck to the fins....hope it all works out

finsnation...stick to posting about the dolphins. because clearly you know nothing about the ravens. if the dolphins ran their organzation like baltimore pitt denver or new england they would be good. and if tannehill make 5 straight playoff appearances, wins a game each season in the playoffs, goes to 3 afc title games and wins superbowl mvp, then you can call him good. i wish your team luck. but signing every free agent to over priced contracts is not the key to nfl success...see balt pitt ne for the blueprint to sustained sucess

Lol all theses ravens and broncos fans. Lets break down the ravens future: paid a mediocre qb 125 mill. Lol, lost there best defensive playmakers, lost a great wr, so in short go sit in tour corner because itll be another 20 years before you can contend again. Broncos: signed Payton Manning, think there winning a superbowl. Trying to damper the miami fans. Please give me a break.

Don't really understand why everyone thinks flacco sucked all the money from ravens. Ravens don't pay 20 mil per year for Flacco. 2013 it's 6.4mil against cap, 2014 14 mil, 2015 14 mil. Then it goes as high as 30mil, but it's clear that ravens won't pay that anymore (unless generally raised salary cap figure, possibly 2015?, or if flacco leads ravens to win couple of SB:s in next three years). So basically it's 3 year deal and then reconstructure... or cut :)

14milj/year is fair for Flacco. One thing bothers me though; everyone seems to be high on Flacco, Boldin, Caldwell.. but I think it was o-line which helped flacco and recievers to have time to make plays. At the moment ravens have unproven C and no LT. If ravens don't have answer to LT (and oher is not answer, mckinnie is huge gamble), deal they made to flacco will look really bad...

I hope this happens for the right price. A front 4 that can pressure the qb without having to blitz so often really helps a secondary... As it stands, our secondary is pretty weak so why not go after the best pass-rusher left on the market? This just makes sense for them to pursue him without overspending.

It kills me how so many of the people that leave comments are probably barely competent enough to manage the finances in their own households, yet they are "experts" when it comes to managing a professional teams Multi-Million dollar books... #Everybody Is a CPA

ironically, about 95% of the fins fans.posting "triumphantly" on this site lately were dogging the Jets for being "off-season champs" the last few years.

After Miami competes for the cellar with NY this year, enjoy your salary cap hell. Then u can buy a Seattle personnel man after firing Ireland too.

All the best,

Just Remember this, Don't get excited Dolphins fans. Winners in March means Losers in September, October, November, December, January and February. The media and fans will hate and try their hardest to justify the success of the Ravens, ultimately failing when they make it to the playoffs for a league high 6th time!

Wow! Lots of haters on the site tonight. A little something for everyone....

Patriots - Still the team to beat in the AFC East. Although I think the loss of Welker was a mistake and that defense is iffy. The Fins are definitely closing the gap. Should be a fun year.

Denver - Please don't lecture the Fins about buying free agents to win a championship and then comparing us to the Eagles. What exactly do you think the Broncos did last year? The road to the Superbowl was supposed to go through Denver...what happened?

Ravens - Unfortunately, the dismantling of that team is hard to watch. However, this is what happens when you have to pay a successful QB top dollar. Salary cap issues will be around for a few years till they bring in enough new talent at a lower rate. Flacco is a great QB. I don't know that he is a $20million a year QB....but close.

All - The Fins are still fine to the salary cap next year. This is for two reasons. 1. Ireland did a good job of managing this process and has allowed for some flexibility despite Wallace's big number. 2. Our QB's and running backs are making around $5million dollars combined. That gives us lots of room on everything else. We will start to have problems when Tannehill is off of his rookie deal.

Looking forward to the season!

------------------------

Let's see, where to begin…you havent sniffed a playoff game in how long? Your QB is a fraud, your stadium is a joke, your fans are non-existent, your team looks like a bunch of waterboys compared to the patriots. That mediocre QB was a superbowl winning MVP. Whens the last time you could say that about your team? Now I know that your post was joking because no one could ever be that ignorant.

I love dolphin haters. Difference btwn Philly n Miami is Miami signed all young FA no older than 28. Saved money dumping their older linebackers. Oh n Marshall didn't work out bc he was in an offense run by sperano. How'd that work out for the Jets last yr? Marshall's also a head case and deserves cutler just the same. Miami took strides forward. Balt lost all their leaders n playmakers to pay flacco a very overrated qb who without Boldin would be ringless n making 11 mill per.

Its funny when all of these uneducated people post about Miami's salary cap issues next year. Miami is 25 million UNDER the cap, as of right now, for 2014. That is without counting a cap increase and cap carryover next season. Before posting something ignorant try to educate yourself.

Poor sheeple. Miami got the best WR available, replaced 2 aging LBs for cheaper more dynamic LBs and the most effective WR per touch in the NFL on the cheap. Look up Gibson's first down and TD ratio per touch.

Reid got a horrible backup QB, the most overrated CB available, and a couple other pieces to go with an older, injury prone, TO prone, poorly defended QB. So, Miami is just like Philly except they have a young QB who isnt injury prone, got more weapons for him, have a great backup QB, and just made their defense faster. Ok, makes sense....

Here is why. Money. Assume Dumervil signs a 5 year contract for $7,000,000. $12,000,000 guaranteed.

(1) Florida pay $2,423,348.50 in state and federal taxes every year. $12,000,000 Guaranteed salary contract = $4,173,348.50
(2) Colorado pay $2,747,448.50 in state and federal taxes every year for a cost of $1,620,500 total more in lost income if he signs with Colorado vs. Florida over the 5 years of the contract. $12,000,000 Guaranteed salary contract = $4,728,948.50 in taxes.
(3) Maryland pay $2,805,635.00 in state and federal taxes every year for a cost of $1,911432.50 total more in lost income if he signs with Maryland vs. Florida over the 5 years of the contract. $12,000,000 Guaranteed salary contract = $4,830,635.00 in taxes.

Winning and championships are important, but careers are short and the ability to earn this amount of money is finite. The difference of $6.3 million or $6.7 million over 5 years is a lot of money to lose over five years when comparing Florida to Colorado and Florida to Maryland. Geographical Taxes do play a part in players decisions.
