14milj/year is fair for Flacco. One thing bothers me though; everyone seems to be high on Flacco, Boldin, Caldwell.. but I think it was o-line which helped flacco and recievers to have time to make plays. At the moment ravens have unproven C and no LT. If ravens don’t have answer to LT (and oher is not answer, mckinnie is huge gamble), deal they made to flacco will look really bad…

Patriots – Still the team to beat in the AFC East. Although I think the loss of Welker was a mistake and that defense is iffy. The Fins are definitely closing the gap. Should be a fun year.

Denver – Please don’t lecture the Fins about buying free agents to win a championship and then comparing us to the Eagles. What exactly do you think the Broncos did last year? The road to the Superbowl was supposed to go through Denver…what happened?

Ravens – Unfortunately, the dismantling of that team is hard to watch. However, this is what happens when you have to pay a successful QB top dollar. Salary cap issues will be around for a few years till they bring in enough new talent at a lower rate. Flacco is a great QB. I don’t know that he is a $20million a year QB….but close.

All – The Fins are still fine to the salary cap next year. This is for two reasons. 1. Ireland did a good job of managing this process and has allowed for some flexibility despite Wallace’s big number. 2. Our QB’s and running backs are making around $5million dollars combined. That gives us lots of room on everything else. We will start to have problems when Tannehill is off of his rookie deal.

Reid got a horrible backup QB, the most overrated CB available, and a couple other pieces to go with an older, injury prone, TO prone, poorly defended QB. So, Miami is just like Philly except they have a young QB who isnt injury prone, got more weapons for him, have a great backup QB, and just made their defense faster. Ok, makes sense….

(3) Maryland pay $2,805,635.00 in state and federal taxes every year for a cost of $1,911432.50 total more in lost income if he signs with Maryland vs. Florida over the 5 years of the contract. $12,000,000 Guaranteed salary contract = $4,830,635.00 in taxes.

Winning and championships are important, but careers are short and the ability to earn this amount of money is finite. The difference of $6.3 million or $6.7 million over 5 years is a lot of money to lose over five years when comparing Florida to Colorado and Florida to Maryland. Geographical Taxes do play a part in players decisions.
