For the first time in his 13-year NFL career, Shane Lechler will not be a member of the Oakland Raiders next season.

According to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, Lechler has agreed to terms on a new deal with the Houston Texans. Per Adam Schefter of ESPN.com, the contract is a three-year deal worth $5.5 million with a $1 million signing bonus.

Lechler has long been considered among the top punters in the league and is a seven-time Pro Bowl selection and nine-time All-Pro. He is also currently the NFL’s all-time leader in career punting average with 47.5 yards per punt.

The Texans had a strong punter in Donnie Jones last season, who averaged 47.2 yards per punt with 28 downed inside the 20, but Lechler is among the best to ever play the position in the league.
