Tim Tebow makes speech to Wichita State men’s basketball team

The Wichita State men’s basketball team upset Gonzaga on Saturday to advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2006.

Among those offering their congratulations to the Shockers: Jets quarterback Tim Tebow.

According to USA Today’s Lindsay Jones, a private plane carrying Tebow stopped at Wichita’s Mid-Continent Airport to refuel, and while he was on the ground, he stopped by the Shockers’ team bus to wish them well.

“Just go out there and ball out,” Tebow said. “Leave nothing on the court.”

It’s a noteworthy moment because of the team’s success and Tebow’s celebrity.

It’s also a nice gesture.

Their ability to pass accurately will now disappear.

Great motivator, terrible QB. He should unseat Tony Robbins.

That’s pretty spectacular. I wish this kid had a little more piss & vinegar tho… It would have been cool for him to say, “Also, never sign with the Jets.”

In before Tebow gets blamed for a silly, non-football related story rather than the website actually reporting the silly, non-football related story.

Amazing story, truly inspirational– Sources say that Wichita State has revamped their entire gameplan to fit the scheme of Tim’s advice.

Meanwhile Tebow will be playing in the Arena league next year. ESPN has reportedly set up a studio in Orlando to follow Tebow’s quest to make the Predators roster.

It has been a while since we had a worthless Tebow story. Good job guys!

And this makes news cause? wow such a slow news day. Love Tebow though!:)

It’s not every day that a team gets an inspirational speech from an NFL third string quarterback.

  11. Stiller43 says: Mar 24, 2013 10:47 PM

Was it based on his inspirational play as a punt protector?

  12. soxfan34110 says: Mar 24, 2013 11:16 PM

Private plane huh? Well, he surely hasn’t taken a vow of poverty.

  13. jayquintana says: Mar 24, 2013 11:20 PM

How does Tebow fly private? Brady and Peyton I can see, but Tebow? Is some Florida booster picking up his bills? I have no problem with this, mind you, just curious.

People can be really cruel to other people, for no reason. Even when someone does something nice, there are others who would rather kick them while they are down. The irony is that most people are cheating in their own lives, & yet have room to make fun of another. I don’t agree with hurting someone that wouldn’t hurt you back.

I bet the Catholic Church paid for that plane. Those donation plates they pass around? Jets, Crystal Cathedrals, covering up molestations. Gotta love organized religion.

Oh, and Wichita State is doomed.

let me see if I get this straight, you slam Tebow all the time for all the press he gets because according to you experts he sucks but you will go ahead report his every move? yea makes perfect sense to me,blame him while you give him pub he didn’t ask for. it’s pretty sad the guy can’t go to the bathroom without the media and you at pft reporting it. but good for Tebow for taking the time to do something like this.

  17. slaughterrt says: Mar 25, 2013 12:57 AM

    Tebow is a celebrity?

  18. goldrush94 says: Mar 25, 2013 2:56 AM

Did he give a speech or did he pray for them? Either way, I wouldn’t want to be on that team.

  19. j4man1 says: Mar 25, 2013 4:27 AM

Well it’s usually that loser florio slamming Tebow, you know, because Tebow is a much better person than florio. I would say man but the jury is still out on that for florio.

I thought you were supposed to leave it ALL on the court Timmy

  21. boyshole25 says: Mar 25, 2013 6:35 AM

Squared80. Tebow is not Catholic, idiot.

  22. moagecu says: Mar 25, 2013 6:46 AM

So this just guaranteed they lose their next game right?

  23. kirbylaw says: Mar 25, 2013 7:08 AM

This story is a nice departure from the one repeating someone calling someone’s wife ugly.

  24. steelerben says: Mar 25, 2013 8:00 AM

It was originally going to be Mark Sanchez, but his airplane was missed the airport by several miles.

  25. cuda1234 says: Mar 25, 2013 8:16 AM

What was his appearance fee for this one?

He just got $100,000 to show up at an event where I live so I’m curious if he gets that for every appearance and why the media never reports on it.

  26. cuda1234 says: Mar 25, 2013 8:17 AM

And, apparently he did not sprinkle his magic pixie dust on his alma mater or the other 14 teams who made it to the sweet 16. What does that mean?

  27. lrjets says: Mar 25, 2013 8:23 AM

What does being a good human have to do with his football problems? He accomplished more in his 20-plus years than most in a lifetime.

Yes! You are so right! If it had been any other player visiting Wichita, he would have been admired. But Jesus promises persecution if we stand up for the right things.

  29. melikefootball says: Mar 25, 2013 8:40 AM

Also I heard the band AMERICA was playing at a home comming in Ohio.

  30. billyboots says: Mar 25, 2013 10:25 AM

Tebow is a Christian, but evidently hates on the Jesuits of Gonzaga. Catholics are always getting beat down.

  31. wikipediasaidso says: Mar 25, 2013 11:38 AM

“Yes! You are so right! If it had been any other player visiting Wichita, he would have been admired. But Jesus promises persecution if we stand up for the right things.”

So..”the right things” includes taking Wichita State in your bracket?

  32. salventuri says: Mar 25, 2013 12:04 PM

Following the speech, Tebow then ran across Lake Michigan to maintain his workout schedule.

  33. zeke2517 says: Mar 25, 2013 12:25 PM

Adorable. Now if only my stupid Jets would get his pious heinie off the roster.
