With free agents visiting that they can’t afford to sign, the Cowboys appear to be working on creating some room.

According to Ed Werder of ESPN, the Cowboys are “negotiating” on a multi-year deal with outside linebacker Anthony Spencer, who signed his franchise tender recently. That guaranteed him $10.6 million this year, and created a scenario where the Cowboys have incentive to work with him, to clear cap space.

In addition to the previously reported visits of safeties Michael Huff, Will Allen and linebacker Justin Durant, Werder also dropped (we think) the name of Jets offensive lineman Brandon Moore (Werder said Eric Moore, but we’re going to give him the benefit of the doubt that it’s not the former Giants guard who retired in the 90s).

But since they have six-figure cap space, the Cowboys will need to get something done with Spencer (or do the big deal for Tony Romo) if they want to shop.

UPDATE 12:39 p.m. ET: Yep, he meant Brandon.
