Suggs says he’s never played with a pass rusher like Dumervil

Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs couldn’t be happier to have Elvis Dumervil as a teammate.

Suggs said after the Ravens came to terms with Dumervil that with himself on one side and Dumervil on the other, the Ravens’ 1-2 pass rush punch will be unparalleled.

“He is a phenomenal pass rusher and I have not had a chance to play alongside another dominant pass rusher,” Suggs told the Baltimore Sun.

That could be perceived as a shot at Paul Kruger, who led the Ravens with nine sacks last season, and it could suggest that Suggs is looking past the pass rushers he played with early in his career. (In 2006 Trevor Pryce had 13 sacks for the Ravens and Adalius Thomas had 11.)

But Dumervil, who has 63.5 sacks in 91 career games, really is a special pass rusher, and one whom Suggs is eager to play with.

“I think this move is awesome,” Suggs said. “It shows we’re still in the business of winning.”

When it comes to the business of rushing the quarterback, this move makes the Ravens better.
