Armed with offers from Bills and Redskins, Fred Davis visits Jets

Arizona Cardinals v Washington Redskins Getty Images

Tight end Fred Davis plans to have “the big one” in 2013.  And the universe of teams that will be benefiting from “the big one” currently stands at three.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Davis has offers from the Bills and Redskins.

He’ll now be visiting the Jets, and the plan is to negotiate with the Jets, too.

Of course, if the offers from the Bills or the Redskins were good enough, Davis would have accepted one of them.

Davis tore an Achilles tendon during the 2012 season.  He played in Washington last year under the franchise tag.

Fred Davis please go and sign with the Jets or the Bills nobody wants you back in DC. You are an overrated TE, Logan may not be as athletic as you but he is a better blocker. You are good when no one is trying to stop you, but as soon as they do then they are able to shut you down. So please take your half assed skills and go sign somewhere else let them regret signing you not us. Thank you.

Bye, Fred… Cooley, don’t let yourself get fat just yet…

all loser teams, hmmmmm hard choice for him

Just my opinion, but I think we would better with him than without..you get ur blocker with Logan, and deep threat w/ Davis. Wonder what “”logicalvoice”” thinks

When your 1 strike away from a multi-game suspension in the NFL substance abuse policy, coming off a torn achilles, and seemingly want several million guaranteed, I can see why teams have been hesitant.

Cooley is finished, though. I’d wager WAS looks at a TE in the draft – kids out of SD or Cinci. in 2-3rd.

The Bills deal probably included Davis, paying them.

i dont understand why all the skins fans (like myself) are hating on davis- dude is infinitely better for the system the skins run then anyone else on the roster. Sure niles paul could turn into something, but hasn’t shown that yet.

get Davis back on the cheap for a year and see what he does. If he is mediocre, part ways. He has the capabilities of putting up top 5 TE numbers here.

  8. onearmsteven says: Mar 28, 2013 5:39 PM

And people wanting Cooley back over Davis- are you kidding me?!?!?!

Loser teams? This coming from someone who uses the screen name Peytonsneck18? Be glad your team was moved out of the AFC East.. Toughest Division in the league, hands down. But you remember that right? 50% of the time at the bottom of the East – Colts

Peytonsneck18 says: washington redskins are the best franchise in nfl and rg3 is a top 5 qb in the nfl go skins..

If Fred cannot tell the difference between a division champ and two division chumps, perhaps it is better if he leaves.

  13. emmac13 says: Mar 28, 2013 5:58 PM

So glad the Browns moved on from this guy. He not only is recovering from injury but also has baggage. I hope he waits to long to decide and ends up sitting home. If and when he ends up on a team he will be a non productive malcontent.

with 13 million available, I expect Jets to sogn Davis

  15. musicman495 says: Mar 28, 2013 6:02 PM

EJ, don’t bother with peytonsneck18. Obviously a Redskins fan once beat him up and stole his milk money.

  16. truthassassin says: Mar 28, 2013 6:21 PM

Fred Davis WAS looking like a potential stud TE… but, he’s not a great blocker, will get suspended for a full year if he fails another drug test, is a bit of a knucklehead (constantly in trouble with the law, albeit not for major violations, but still annoying), and the Redskins went on their huge win-streak last year with him out of the lineup (Logan Paulsen started in his place, catches everything thrown his way, is a great blocker, but isn’t a deep threat like Davis – Paulsen lacks that explosive playmaker ability)… If the Skins had the money, they would definitely bring Davis back just based on his potential… but, given their situation, and everything else I mentioned, I’ll be surprised if it happens… I’ll be looking for the Skins to draft a TE late in the draft

The guy has not yet chosen the team to root for this year.

Ignore peytonsneck he’s still recovering from a red assing when rg3 won ROY

  19. bigbenh8tr says: Mar 28, 2013 6:51 PM

Rg3 won’t last 6 games omce he’s healthy. yal try hard to be good fans I’m sorry your team is such a disgrace.

You’d think you actually won a playoff game!

  25. soysauceandunderwear says: Mar 28, 2013 7:29 PM

As a skins fan would love to have Fred back. He’s a player drafted by the team, coached up by the team, who started to achieve some success before his injury.

That said, the skins seem to be doing things right now building through the draft and signing younger cheaper second/third tier UFAs. So if Fred does get a better deal more power to him. Good for him. Skins will have next man up step up.

  26. wethog66 says: Mar 28, 2013 8:25 PM

Congrats on being the only 2nd pick out of 3 from the Skins 08 draft to be worth a ****, but being 1 bone smoking away from a 1 year suspension, and coming off a torn Achilles, us Skins fans are not going to lose much sleep if you sign elsewhere.

So nice try holding the Skins hostage with deals from other teams, but its not going to work. Good luck Sleepy, and don’t sleep anywhere without your alarm clock.

  27. wethog66 says: Mar 28, 2013 8:28 PM

    @jetsjetsjetsnow

Skins have been to a SB (5 actually) more recently than the Jets since the Jets 1 and only SB victory. So who gives a **** about playoffs games really?

  28. jetsjetsjetsnow says: Mar 28, 2013 11:37 PM

    @Wethog66

Sure you have more SB wins but Appearances? Who cares! your last SB win was 21 years ago. Thats getting pretty ancient too. So whats your point anyway other than acknowledging what a bunch of losers you are right now!
