Could the Steelers be zeroing in on a potential lead back?

Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL.com reported Thursday that the Steelers will attempt to sign ex-Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw -- assuming they are pleased with the results of a club-administered physical he’s receiving today.

The 27-year-old Bradshaw rushed for 1,015 yards in 2012. He is coming off of foot surgery. The Giants released Bradshaw earlier in the offseason.

Bradshaw, who ranks No. 76 on PFT’s Free Agent Hot 100, would likely become the Steelers’ top tailback were he to join Pittsburgh. The Steelers’ ground game sputtered for most of last season, and one-time starting back Rashard Mendenhall signed with Arizona earlier in March.
