Vikings unveiling new uniforms on April 25

pg2_g_vikings_fans1_600 Getty Images

Thanks to a hard-to-notice change to the team’s bearded-and-braided logo, the Vikings definitely will have a different uniform in 2013.  But the changes apparently will sweep more broadly than the “evolution” of the Viking profile.

The Vikings have announced that new uniforms will be unveiled during the team’s 2013 draft party, on Thursday, April 25.

The team also has supplied 12 teasers that can be unlocked via various online activities.   (It would be a lot easier if someone from Nike would just leak the design, like Nike supposedly did with the new Dolphins logo.)

The Vikings last changed their uniforms in 2006, shading the helmet horns to make them appear three-dimensional and overhauling the jerseys and pants.

Last year, Nike took over the apparel contract from Reebok, and presumably launched an effort to persuade as many teams as possible to adopt new jerseys.

They’ve already won as many championships with these new uniforms as they have dating back to the beginning of time itself.

    None.

    —————————————————–

Hmm, lets see. A QB who got to choose the team he went to, the team he went to was a playoff team the year prior and won a playoff game with Tim Tebow as the QB (Manning couldn’t win a playoff game this year) versus a guy who was on a 3-13 team the prior year, had a career threatening ACL tear, and finished just 9 yards shy of the all time rushing record.

Yes the MVP award has been biased towards the QB, but the voters this year got 2 things very right, Adrian Peterson NFL MVP, and Adrian Peterson NFL Offensive Player of the Year. Manning did what he did because he hand picked what team he went to, and his receivers helped him out, AD did what he did with 3 new starters on his OL, and with no passing game. Bronco’s homer or not, if you can’t admit AD was hands down the NFL MVP, then you are just plain ignorant like Logicalvoice.

Do you realize how dumb that sounds when BOTH RG3 and AP did what they did. Plus RG3 is being compared to AP as a super athlete with a remarkable super-power of healing ahead of schedule. If AP is doping RG3 is probably part of that regimen.

If RG3 read your comment he’d tell ya to get over it.

  17. Maurice Barksdale says: Mar 28, 2013 3:30 PM

The Vikings should just go-back to their throw-back uniforms. They look ten times better than the current ones, which are too busy.

The 49ers went back to their old uniforms, after an unnecessary and too busy update on the previous design, and they’ve been winning ever since. The Vikings should do the same.

The only time such things should be scrutinized and ruled against is when it has been proven emphatically that the substance carries with it health damaging side effects.

Like awesome hockey at many levels, a pro baseball team that has enjoyed success over the last 30 years, lots of art, theater, a restaurant scene that is rising to the top of the country, concerts and other entertainment, one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country, decent salaries, over 11,000 lakes to fish, tons of state and national parks, some of the country’s best health care, and education that is tops in the nation.

Following the NFL and AFL Championship Games for the 1966 through 1969 seasons, the NFL champion played the AFL champion in Super Bowls I through IV, the only true inter-league championship games in the history of professional football. Secondly, its funny you don’t hear Bears fans bringing up NFL Championships or Chiefs, Raiders, Bills on AFL Championships.

Great, count your Super Bowls, you have 4*(according to some sources the first 2 are debatable) however most of us recognize the 4.

Why do you need to talk about NFL Championships as if they were the same thing as a Super Bowl?? Especially considering 3 of them in the 60’s when there was a league just as good as the NFL playing and you didn’t play their champion!

One last point, the Packers have been around since what, 1919?? The Vikes in 1960, you had a 50 year head start on amassing championships if all those NFL Championships are equal to Super Bowls. WHICH NO ONE outside of Wisconsin thinks they mean anything more than a division title or a conference title today!

Wait a minute ad28bestever didn’t the broncos go 13 and 3 this last season. And lose to the Superbowl champs by 3 on a blown play on defense. AP got shut down in the playoffs cant say the same for Manning even though the broncos lost. Manning had his second best season of his career in a Broncos uniform. And didn’t win the MVP like he has already 4 times.give it up Viking.

Prior to the official merger, there were NFL Champions, and from 60-69, an AFL Champion. Starting in 1970, the Super Bowl is simply another name for the NFL Title game.

Give the Vikings the 69 title, and the Packers have 13.
    End of story.

Has anyone else noticed that an article about anything related to the Vikings can’t be written without 50 Packer fans posting that they have won more titles? Same as UND hockey fans….it’s not worth winning if you can’t rub people’s faces in it everywhere they turn.

My god! Coming to a Vikings thread is good cheap entertainment! Watching Viking fans spin everything to make the Vikings seem less pathetic in comparison to the Packers is always good for a laugh!

I’m betting the uniforms are pink. The Vikings are already the girliest team in the NFL, might as well just go all the way, for once in their franchise.

When are they going to fix the worst uniform in the history of sports: The horrible Packers uniform?
