No fewer than 20 NFL teams watched former Clemson running back Andre Ellington go through a workout at the school on Friday, the Associated Press reported.

Ellington missed Clemson’s Pro Day with a hamstring injury he aggravated at the Combine. According to, the hamstring is the same one that prematurely ended his Senior Bowl week.

According to the AP, Ellington was unofficially timed at 4.51 seconds in the 40-yard dash at Friday’s workout. He was clocked at 4.61 in the 40 at Indianapolis. Ellington ran indoors on Friday, just like he did at the Combine.

Rotoworld draft analyst Josh Norris ranks Ellington third among running backs in the Class of 2013.

He’s a workhorse running back. Solid production at Clemson but not much flash. He never loses yards but doesn’t really have breakaway speed. I don’t remember him having durability issues. I would say a safe third round pick.
