The inscription at the base of the Statue of Liberty now specifically encompasses former members of the Eagles’ defensive line.
Last month, the Giants signed Cullen Jenkins, a defensive tackle who had been jettisoned in Philadelphia. Now, Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reports that former Eagles defensive tackle Mike Patterson will visit the Giants.
Patterson will take a physical in New York, which becomes something other than routine in light of the tangle of blood vessels in Patterson’s brain that was surgically removed after the 2011 season.
A first-round pick in 2005, the Eagles cut Patterson before the start of the new league year. He has visited the Lions but otherwise has not generated much interest.
