Jay-Z’s new venture connected Cruz with CAA

There has been plenty of speculation that Jay-Z’s new sports management firm resulted in Giants receiver Victor Cruz hiring CAA to negotiate his next contract with the Giants, or whoever he may sign with.

The speculation is accurate.  Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Cruz hired CAA in anticipation of CAA and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation partnering in the overall representation and management of Cruz’s career.

Officially, Roc Nation’s first client is Yankees’ second baseman Robinson Cano.  It’s apparently only a matter of time before Cruz joins the client list.

As Chris Strauss of USA Today accurately explains it, the association between Roc Nation and CAA gives Jay-Z far more credibility than Master P, who negotiated Ricky Williams’ abysmal rookie deal with the Saints in 1999.

Per Strauss, Cruz previously avoided questions regarding a possible business relationship with Jay-Z.  “I’d rather keep that under wraps.  I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag just yet,” Cruz said in October. The bag is now open, and the cat is getting ready to do the salsa.  While clawing the sh-t out of the furniture.

There was a large vacancy created when Biggy Smalls retired suddenly from the industry.

  8. Mr. Wright 212 says: Apr 2, 2013 10:19 PM

I don’t care, just sign the damn contract, Vic. Don’t you see Steve Smith already on his fourth team in 18 months because he pulled this stunt and got hurt?

Sick and tired of hearing Jaylluminati’s name 24/7 SMH.

as soon as Penelope was throwing illuminati signs after his touchdowns this past year it was a done deal.

Wait, Jay-Z needs some of Victor Cruz’ money?

And wasn’t there a good story when Cruz first came into the league about two agents who were just starting out and believed in Cruz before anyone else did, and worked their butts off to get him the looks and into Giants’ camp? For the rookie minimum, and now for the first real payday it’s “sayonara” to those guys?

What happened? There’s got to be a story here.

Will you idiots who don’t even know what Illuminati is or ever was please stop inducting every rapper or successful person with it? You sound ignorant.

    2 questions about jay-z.

    1. Why does he name everything after the rockafellers?

    2. How did that dude get so massively rich? I don’t know a single person who has any of his albums.

  13. leggett17 says: Apr 2, 2013 11:09 PM

Eli should sign Blake Shelton as an agent then. You guys know Eli – two time Super Bowl MVP. Also two of the the best clutch throws in Super Bowl history.

Roc-a-fella Records, Rocawear, 40/40 Clubs, former President of Def Jam, part owner of the Brooklyn Nets. As for not knowing anybody who has any of his albums, you must now know anybody who listens to hip-hop cause he’s easily the most successful rapper ever when you account for longevity, record sales, proteges and critical reception.

    1. Illuminati.

    2. Became jealous of Cam’ron and the Diplomats outselling and outspinning him on his own (co-founded) label, undermined Cam’ron’s promotion for Purple Haze, snaked out Dame Dash, sold out everyone who protected his weak behind in the streets and rode with him through the Rocafella years, and threatened and beat people who didn’t play in with his plan to ensure that he went platinum upon every album release, and used payola to aid in that.

    That’s how.

  16. colinito says: Apr 2, 2013 11:53 PM

They’re both Freemasons, as evidenced by the pyramid hand signs they both throw up (and the Rockefeller references)… but then again a lot of people in entertainment and business are. Once you understand the symbolism you see it everywhere. Larry Johnson formerly of the Chiefs also was and called Jay-Z his brother in interviews.

People say illuminati but from what I understand the illuminati would represent the elites that sort of oversee the entire brotherhood network. You have to be born into the illuminati/family, it’s not something you can join.

I guess what I don’t understand is why Jay-Z needs any more money. Seriously, what are you going to do with it at this point?

  17. flacconation says: Apr 3, 2013 12:06 AM

Im confused…. exactly what does Jay-Z bring to the table besides his name?

This is just like when that Russian used him for public relations offering Jay less than 1 percent stake in ownership to bring the Nets to Brooklyn.

So Cruz is going to have to pay an even bigger percentage of his contract to fill Jay-z’s pockets?

Sure – lol, Jay Z was peddling drugs on street corners before his music, he has talent, got him out. He was not born into any such organization. He is rich, no doubt, but no Freemason, Bohemian Club member, Skull & Bones (Yale), or part of a secret society. It is called being a poseur.

  19. tangsandwich says: Apr 3, 2013 2:33 AM

I think dumb-z wants to be white. He constantly fers to rich white men. Why didn’t name it Rodney King Records?

  20. tangsandwich says: Apr 3, 2013 2:36 AM

He ain’t that good either. He need Justin T to sell out shows cause he can’t.

  21. jtchernak says: Apr 3, 2013 5:49 AM

He is trash. When your song about Jackie Robinson has the line “my name is jack i rob i sin oh ya I’m Jackie Robinson” you are trash

  22. noring4youstill says: Apr 3, 2013 6:43 AM

He is a terrible rapper always has been. Just a representation of us as a whole just as Bieber or the likes of the other trash continue to grow in popularity. Also being down with the devil has something to do with it.

  23. nflofficeadmin says: Apr 3, 2013 7:58 AM

Jay-z, helping athletes the way he has helped so many hip-hop artists develop and get recognized in their careers…

If you know anything about the music industry, you know what I’m talking about. Look at the guy’s track record and it’s not hard to see… his record as the CEO of DefJam alone and the number of artists stymied and mismanaged into the ground is disgraceful… but maybe this time…it’s different.

  24. nananatman says: Apr 3, 2013 9:36 AM

Now when he scores a td he gets salsa, a big plate of cocaine and six hos. At least TI isn’t his rep cause then he’d have to meet him in a Walmart parking lot but he’d get a free AK in the deal to. I know I know they were young and blah blah blah mistakes.

  25. tiggerblood says: Apr 3, 2013 10:44 AM

Thinking he meant stealing bases not sure never heard it but makes sense. Isn’t that the title of a bioagraphy for Jackie Robinson”Stealing Home”?

That’s ALL Camel’s token “ownership” was designed to do, reel in Brooklyn, reel in the streets and music industry, to build a fanbase in Brooklyn. Jay stans swear he owns 40% of the team or something.

And it hasn’t worked. Prokhorov underestimated how deeply Knicks fans’ roots run (3-4 generations). You’re only going to get the transplants who aren’t from here, the hipsters and a few of those hip hop heads — because most of the rest of the ones locally who were Knick fans before are STILL Knick fans.

But CAA is a powerful entity. I would love to get on with them once I cross the ABA tri-state bar ha.

    You’re a very smart man.

    Seriously.

Most people do not see this.

And even without mentioning how Sauce Money, Jaz-O, DeHaven, Cam’ron, the Diplomats, Dame Dash (and he stole Kanye from Dame) were all snaked by him, you can look no further than Larry Johnson (Chiefs) for precedent here. Not sure what Vic is thinking, but if it gets the deal done, I won’t care.

  30. bigbluelou says: Apr 3, 2013 3:26 PM

Don’t know what the holdup is here for Cruz and the Giants to make a deal. But I’m getting a little worried that it hasn’t been done yet. You have had the 2-time Super Bowl MVP QB and others stating openly that they would restructure their contracts to keep him in NY and after the Giants giving him a break and having him become a fan favorite, whether it was his talent, his background story or the salsa for his grandmother, you would like to think he would show some loyalty to the Giants and move on. He has a book out and salsa’ed with the President of the United States, I know he wants to get paid and now changing Agents within contract talks just doesn’t sit well with me as a fan. Just saying.

    Jay-Z a Freemason….or an Illuminati?!

    BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Do you actually think that someone can buy their way into either one of those groups? No way in hell that they’d even give him a first glance, nevermind a second one. He’s a brilliant businessman, but in no way would he ever be considered a Freemason or an Illuminati. Do some research and study even the most basic history of those groups, and you’ll get all of the clarification you need.

I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s in Cruz’s best interests to wait until the 18th just to see if some idiot team swoops in and offers him Calvin money. When they don’t, he’ll sign by the 19th.

I find it so funny how people literally worship these people. Jay Z doesn’t care about you and he promotes Satanic Garbage in your face. He degrades Jesus and acts like he is God.

Yet you people stick up for him. I hope Hell is nice and hot for you people.
