Nassib starts making the rounds

Nassib AP

The Bills aren’t the only team that will be taking a closer look at former Syracuse quarterback Ryan Nassib.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Nassib has a trio of workouts lined up for this week.

It gets started on Thursday, when the Browns watch what Nassib can go.  Coach Rob Chudzinski is expected to attend the session, along with offensive coordinator Norv Turner and others.

The next day, Nassib will work out for a Jaguars contingent that includes G.M. Dave Caldwell, coach Gus Bradley, and offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch.

When Nassib works out for the Bills on Sunday, coach Doug Marrone possibly won’t attend.  (Since Marrone was Nassib’s coach at Syracuse, Marrone already knows everything there is to know about Nassib.)  Instead, the workout will be scrutinized by G.M. Buddy Nix, assistant G.M. Doug Whaley, and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

Some view Nassib as a second-round prospect.  There’s a chance he gets into round one, if there’s a run on quarterbacks after pick 20 — and if the Bills feel compelled to trade up to ensure that they’ll get him.

I could see the Texans potentially grabbing him in the first round, since they aren’t sold on Schaub.

As a Syracuse alum, I will say Nassib will be the second coming of Russell “The Robot” Wilson. Russell Wilson vs whoever Nassib is drafted by in the Super Bowl at Met Life Stadium.

He would look a lot better in a Washington Uni than RGIII does!

Looks like a young Matt Damon.

Nassib will take the life size “Bobble Head Nassib” with him when he travels. As a stand in for photo ops.

If teams liked any of these guys we wouldn’t have seen the Chiefs and Raiders go out to grab veteran qbs when either of them could have had Geno or Nassib

I like this dude more than Barkley and Wilson. imo the Pats should deal Mallett and let Nassib intern with Brady.

Since the QB position is as important as it is, there will always be quarterbacks drafted earlier than their ability warrants…and this year will be no different. I happen to believe that teams looking for an answer at QB would be better off going with a 2nd or 3rd round signal-caller this year, while addressing other needs in the 1st round.

    Kyle Boller 2.0

Wasn’t Hackett his OC at Syracuse? Wouldn’t he know about him too?

Boy I sure hope a lot of deperate teams gamble on this class of mediocre QBs and leave better players on the board for Green Bay.

No, at least Boller had a strong arm.

I hope my pick is right and Buffalo does select Nassib. I was hoping the Bills would be able to wait until the second round to grab him, but I’m not sure he will still be there. Buffalo should just do it and take him in the first round. Nassib has massive potential. Marrone already knows his in’s and out’s, so it would make his transition to the NFL that much easier. Take the chance Buffalo!! This kid is the real deal!

  20. buffalomafia says: Apr 2, 2013 4:15 PM

Please dont draft him! Scouts say he doesn’t have arm strength to throw the ball down feild!

Knowing these on the cheap coaches the Bills have from Syracuse they will draft him instead of doing the right thing & trade up to get Barkley or Smith? If push comes to shove draft top Wr?!

  21. michaeljacksonisback says: Apr 2, 2013 4:27 PM

    WHO??? And WHY?????

  22. gator2006 says: Apr 2, 2013 4:34 PM

They should pick up Greg Paulus “from Syracuse” as well. Not only can he dink and dunk- he could pick up plenty of roughing the passer first downs. Or- try him at kicker or punter for a free first down at any near-contact!

  23. kwickett85 says: Apr 2, 2013 4:53 PM

I don’t see the Bills taking Geno Smith… Marrone and Nassib crushed him and WV in the Pinstripe Bowl.

Nassib doesn’t have the best arm strength compared to someone like EJ Manuel but it isn’t bad. Better than Fitz.

Browns will take him @6 knowing lombardi… Lol
