Glazer helped Banks get ready for his NFL shot

The long road for linebacker Brian Banks to the NFL has contained many twists and turns.

It also included a short bald man who may or may not have been living under a bridge along the route.

Once FOX’s Jay Glazer became aware of Banks’ imprisonment for a crime he didn’t commit, Glazer began providing MMA training to Banks at no cost.  The goal was to get him in NFL shape, and then to get a team to take a chance on him.

Glazer, who can be slightly persistent, became Banks’ biggest cheerleader, encouraging a team to sign him.  Eventually, the Falcons did.

It’s not a tryout.  It’s a roster spot.  And now it’s up to Banks to make it to the 53-man roster, or at a minimum to the practice squad.

Here’s Glazer talking about his efforts on Banks’ behalf, from Wednesday’s edition of PFT Live.

That says a lot about Jay Glazer as a man. I have much respect for him after reading this story.

Nice work by Glazer; this kid has a lot of good karma coming his way. The exact opposite is very true for his accuser though. What did his shirt say “XONR8”? I love the shirt, but I can’t exonerate her. Never.

    Good luck Brian!

I have to believe the Falcons would at least give him a spot on the practice squad

Way to use your media power to build someone up and get him a change.

    All the best Banks!

    Nice beginning to the story.

Until I hear about his accuser being sentenced to prison and having her $ettlement taken back, I can’t fully rejoice though.

The Falcons are looking to get younger and faster at LB; he has a very realistic chance of making the practice squad and maybe even going further.

Glazer annoys me-always dropping names and all. And he has a terrible unfunny sense of humor. But I’m impressed by this.

Let glazer become a parole officer or something then get him off TV. He is terrible.
