Signing Kevin Kolb hasn’t eliminated the Bills’ desire to add a quarterback that can run the offense for several years, which is why they’ve been taking a close look at several of the top quarterback prospects in this year’s draft.

You can add Tyler Bray from the University of Tennessee to that list. Chris Brown from the team’s website passes along word that the Bills worked Bray out on Saturday, adding him to a group that already includes West Virginia’s Geno Smith, USC’s Matt Barkley, Florida State’s E.J. Manuel and Oklahoma’s Landry Jones. Ryan Nassib, who played for Bills coach Doug Marrone at Syracuse, is set to work out for the team on Sunday.

Bray is not seen as a prospective first-round choice later this month and is expected to go in the middle rounds to a team impressed by the strong arm he displayed in his collegiate days. He threw the fastest ball among all quarterbacks at the combine in February.

Brown also reports that the team worked out Tennessee tight end Michael Rivera as well as wide receivers Justin Hunter and Zach Rogers. Wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson did not work out for the Bills, something Brown calls “interesting” since he’s the most highly regarded Vols pass catcher by NFL scouts. There’s no indication of why Buffalo didn’t put him through his paces while checking out his teammates.
