Competitiveness fuels Nassib’s desire to be first quarterback drafted

Syracuse quarterback Ryan Nassib won’t be at the draft.  But he could still shake things up from afar.

Greg Cosell of NFL Films recently put Nassib at the top of the incoming quarterback class, and Nassib was candid during a Monday appearance on PFT Live about his desire to have that come to fruition.  It’s a matter of basic competitiveness — the kind of competitiveness that helped Nassib go 3-0 against West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith, the presumed first quarterback to be taken in the draft.

Nassib had plenty of other good things to say as he reflected on the private workouts he has conducted, the visits still to come, his willingness to use his legs as well as his arm, how he stays healthy when running, and whether he’d choose protecting his body over getting into the end zone.

Teams that have shown interest in Nassib include the Bills, Browns, Jaguars, Jets, Cardinals, and Eagles.  Once he lands with an NFL team, we’ll have him back on the show to discuss how it all happened and where it will go from here.

Not specific to Nassib, but I hate those head-to-head win-loss comparisons between QBs.

For example, Mark Sanchez is 2-0 against Tom Brady and Peyton Manning in the playoffs. The Jets beat the Colts and the Patriots in the 2011 postseason before losing to the Steelers.

Anybody here buying that Mark Sanchez is better than those 2 Hall of Fame QBs?

  2. Russ Lande (Pro Football Focus) has him #1 too. In fact Lande has him #1 on his big board.

  3. Hearing around Buffalo that there is a chance the Bills do not draft a QB until mid rounds. QB of the future not in this draft. The Bills have so many holes, they cant fill them all in one year. But, with most things NFL, it could all be smoke.

  4. This guy is a terrible QB. Has all the arm strength of Colt McCoy and the foot dexterity of Derek Anderson.

Don’t believe me? Look at the film from the USC game last year. This guy is a wreck.
