Seahawks, Brady Quinn strike deal

AP

The Seahawks, as expected, have reached a deal with quarterback Brady Quinn. The club announced the agreement on its website Tuesday night.

The 28-year-old Quinn was one of the best passers left on the market. He will back up Russell Wilson, who was very impressive in his rookie season. The Seahawks dealt reserve quarterback Matt Flynn to Oakland last week.

Quinn has made 20 career starts in six NFL seasons. He was just 1-7 starting for Kansas City in 2012, but he played very well in the victory, a 27-21 defeat of Carolina one day after Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher took his own life in a murder-suicide. Quinn would earn praise for his thought-provoking remarks about Belcher’s passing during his postgame press conference.

  1. 6 year deal for 28 Million is just too much…….Thank God I just made that up……

Wonder what the deal was for?

  2. It’s great that people hating on the Seahawks flock to every article posted about them. If you’re not worried about them or think your team is going to do better, why keep coming to post on a Seahawks article?

    It just screams insecurity.

  3. The key to the deal is preserving Seahawk’s cap space.

I would venture that he’s working at somewhere between the Vet’s minimum and 1 – million, so he’s closer to RW’s second year rookie payc then Matt Flynn’s, which is the football equivalent to working as a fry cook at McDonald’s.

They had to deal Matt Flynn, he was making 10x RW’s pay this year. (7.5 million vs $750k) —

  4. Poor Matt Leinart. When even your college coach doesn’t want you as a backup, it’s probably time to find a new career.

Give me a break. Every 49er article is filled with the same Seahawk fan garbage, it goes both ways. Go cry in your pillow you sensitive loser.

Easy bro. I think my team will do better then yours but I not writing about that. I was just glad Brady Quinn got picked up by a good team. I never thought he got much of an opportunity to shine with the Browns and Chiefs. Now you guys have a couple of good players that used to play for “Gods Team”. By the way, I am pretty sure your team and my team play this year. Should be a good one.
    Best of Luck. Go Blue.

  7. Ok people lets review the facts. JS and PC don’t make quick moves usually without a plan and they probably knew for a while they could deal Flynn. This seems like a preseason Carroll “competition” signing. The dust will settle and the Seahawks will have their top 2 qbs on the roster on day 1. It could be an addition through the draft, another FA, heck even a trade. But I will be pretty surprised in Quinn suits up after we meet the raiders. If he does, congratulations on earning it.

The Seahawks joined the league in 1976, and haven’t done anything since. Nobody is intimidated by potential. The Buffalo Bills went to the Super Bowl four years in a row and didn’t win once. Seattle fans are insecure, or so it screams, but it would help their cause if the team could just win one title.

  9. I’m a Seahawks fan, it should be a fun year. now imagine if we had faced off the 49ers a third time last season (hint, hint). it could have gone either way and maybe we wouldn’t be talking like this year. Somebody’s got to win it every year.

  10. Why? Seattle needs a #1 QB, now they have a QB named Brady (that’s a start) and one that they have to wait till the 4th quarter to see if they are going to win or not.

  11. The great thing about this deal is that most of Braddus Quinn’s passes, like North Korean missiles, will land harmlessly in the Pacific!

  12. Quinn brings a positive presence in the locker room and weight room. Good character guy and a workout warrior. He is decent for spot duty when needed.

Just hope Wilson doesn’t get hurt for any extended period of time. If he is your starter you’re in trouble.

  13. As a Seahawk fan I can’t say I’m excited about this signing, but I don’t have a problem with it either. So basically, I’m neutral which is what I would expect most fans to be on a backup QB signing.

  14. Let’s go Quinn!!!!! ND haters abound. BQ finally getting a chance on a great team. All he needs is one game like Flynn got with G.B. and he might get a shot at starting again with another team.
