The Cincinnati Bengals are looking into providing a backup option to starting tight end Jermaine Gresham.
According to Adam Caplan of TheSidelineView.com, the Bengals are bringing in former Cleveland Browns tight end Alex Smith for a visit this week. Smith has played in 26 games over the last two seasons for the Browns. He’s caught 27 passes for 178 yards over that span.
Smith served in an H-back type role for the Browns as he lined up on the line of scrimmage and in the backfield. The Bengals are thin at the position with Orson Charles and Richard Quinn as the only other tight ends on the roster.
