Dansby visits the Bengals

The Bengals reportedly were interested in trading for linebacker Rolando McClain.  They now have interest in another available linebacker.

Per a league source, Karlos Dansby is visiting the Bengals on Wednesday.

Cut by the Dolphins as Miami signed multiple free-agent defenders, Dansby hasn’t gotten many/any sniffs.

He has experience in both the 3-4 and 4-3 defense.  It’s unclear whether the Bengals would play him inside or outside.

The Bengals also recently brought in free-agent safety Kerry Rhodes for a look-see.  Signing either or both would fit with the team’s recent habit of letting the market soften before pouncing on veteran defensive players with recognizable names.

Dansby can play. The Bengals would be wise to sign him. Maleuauga (sp.?) just hasn’t been the answer.

why aren’t the vikings looking at either of these guys?

Either one or both would be positive additions at bargain basement prices. Completely in line with Mike Brown’s demonstrated strategy.

I was really hoping the Ravens would take a chance on Dansby. The Bengals would be getting a good player is they sign him. Very solid linebacker.

Dansby would be a great signing. Wanted the Ravens to grab him rather than McClain, so we’ll see how that pans out. Good guy. Good player. Leader on & off the field. Hoping he says NO to Cincy!

I actually do think the Ravens are getting a good player in Rolando Mclain

Dansby has not been signed because he is not going to come cheap. McClain will be a vet min with bonus. Dansby will be at least 5 million a year.

Sorry, Carlos. There’s no money for you in Cincinnati.

Dansby is nothing special. He made a lot of tackles a season ago, but many of those were 10+ yards down the field. He also misses about as many tackles as he actually makes. And to cap it off, he talks too much. That’s probably the biggest reason why the Dolphins got rid of him. He’s a future HOFer in his books, and he is probably overplaying his hand as he will probably be unsigned in the 2013 season as a result.

The Bengals are defensive leader away from being elite on defense. This guy brings it, wouldn’t mind a trash talker bring a lil swagger to the d. I heard that Jonathan Cyprien likes to talk too. Sign Dansby, Harrison and draft Cyprien please!
