Rashad Jennings works out for Raiders

The Raiders worked out Rashad Jennings on Wednesday, the free agent running back said on his verified Twitter account and on Facebook.

The 28-year-old Jennings showed promise as Maurice Jones-Drew’s backup early in his career, gaining better than five yards per carry in 2009 and 2010. However, Jennings missed 2011 with a knee injury, and he was held to just 283 yards on 101 carries in 2012. Moreover, he dealt with knee and shoulder ailments, and he missed time with a concussion.

The Raiders are relatively strong in the backfield, with Darren McFadden their top playmaker on offense and fullback Marcel Reece a capable rusher, too. That said, the Raiders could use a little more depth at tailback.

The vast majority of the Raiders’ offseason additions have been on defense as general manager Reggie McKenzie reworks the roster.

Definitely would be nice to have a back like Rashad or maybe Bradshaw. Mike Goldson showed being a solid back-up can get ya paid!

I’m really starting to see Reggie McKenzie’s “Eye for Talent” especially the diamonds in the ruff! Raider Nation clawing back!

They’ll need two backs coming in. McFadden will be sitting on his own spot on the bench like every year.

Jennings is solid.but I think Bernard Scott could/would be a more explosive option.he would be a viable back up and could contribute in the return game.

As a jags fan, enjoy. Everyone remember when jags fans said Mjd who during his holdout? Jennings couldn’t do squat.

They need a lot more depth at that position. They let Goodson leave, they don’t like Taiwan Jones, and McFadden has mostly been job security for team doctors.

Typical Reggie McKenzie signing injured player who will disappear all year.
