The Raiders worked out Rashad Jennings on Wednesday, the free agent running back said on his verified Twitter account and on Facebook.

The 28-year-old Jennings showed promise as Maurice Jones-Drew’s backup early in his career, gaining better than five yards per carry in 2009 and 2010. However, Jennings missed 2011 with a knee injury, and he was held to just 283 yards on 101 carries in 2012. Moreover, he dealt with knee and shoulder ailments, and he missed time with a concussion.

The Raiders are relatively strong in the backfield, with Darren McFadden their top playmaker on offense and fullback Marcel Reece a capable rusher, too. That said, the Raiders could use a little more depth at tailback.

The vast majority of the Raiders’ offseason additions have been on defense as general manager Reggie McKenzie reworks the roster.
