Former NFL receiver Sam Hurd pleaded guilty to conspiring to sell cocaine and marijuana in a federal court today, and as he did so he offered an apology.

I’m sorry for everything I’ve done,” Hurd said, via the Dallas Morning News.

Hurd, who faces significant prison time, also told U.S. District Court Judge Jorge Solis that he was sorry he waited so long to plead guilty.

“I didn’t mean to make it this drastic and long,” he said.

Hurd will be sentenced in July, and could get 10 years to life.

  1. What a Shame. A chance to play on the professional level most of us would love the chance. He throws it away. SMH

  2. This is why the Steelers didn’t draft him. Teams could learn a thing or two from us.

  3. Thanks for not showing him in a Bears uniform… He was only there for 1 season. His life of crime must have started long before that. Most likely in school. “Don’t do the crime if you don’t wanna do time”.

  4. Just bein greedy..Sad because there’s plenty of people who would love to have the chance at the life u had. And the worse part is the ppl you was dealing with set u up for the fall..

  5. “The time should fit the crime”
10 to life…who did he kill?
Oh wait..nevermind. He is just going to be wasting taxpayer money for a victimless crime

  6. truly sad..he is just sorry for getting caught; how can a professional football player be a drug dealer, just senseless 10 to life, a wasted talent down the toilet.

Apparently they did, because No One drafted him.

  8. Funny how criminals are always sorry and show remorse after they are convicted or plead guilty. Hurd is only sorry ….that he got caught and now he’s doing his best to kiss up to the judge prior to sentencing. He wasted a lot of taxpayers money by dragging this out as long as he did when his lawyer undoubtedly told him and he also knew that his goose was cooked.

    lol.

    Chris Rainey – wife-beater.
    Hines Ward – DUI
    Ben Roethlisberger – rapist.
James Harrison – called the Commishioner a gay slur and wife-beater.
Jeff Reed – arrested for public intoxication
Jonathan Dekker – arrested for obstruction of justice
    Cedric Wilson – wife beater.
    Najeh Davenport – wife beater.
Santonio Holmes – arrested three times prior to being drafted. Two troubles with the law after. No charges.
Plaxico Burress – technically he wasn’t a Steeler but you did draft him.

Yes indeed. We should all learn from the Steelers.

  10. Really? It’s not like dude wanted to sell a few dime bags for some extra scratch. Dude wanted to buy 5 to 10 kilograms of coke and 1000 pounds of pot PER WEEK. What he was doing was NOT victimless. At that level, it’s not The Dude hooking up his brothers. That’s selling drugs at a corporate level ScarFace style. Not to mention the fact he was a professional athlete that children (rightly or not) look up to as a role model. Dude should be locked up for a LONG time.

  11. Could be sentenced to life in prison? Seems really harsh for just dealing some drugs, not that its right, but I have seen child molesters and people charged with manslaughter get less than that… still sad, threw away a great opportunity.

  12. …coulda made millions, what a loser
…he’s a greedy so and so
…he’s just sorry cause he got caught
    …doesn’t he know that’s illegal
…what a poor role model for the children
    …people should use legal drugs
…he needs to be taught a lesson

Wow. Now I feel a lot better.

You had to use a picture of him back when he was with Dallas why?
    ================================

He played 6 seasons in the NFL.
    5 of them in Dallas.

Why would you NOT use a pic of him wearing Cowboys uniform?

  14. You guys got issues. Quit bashing a guy who is about to serve time. Life sentence for being a drug dealer won’t happen. 6yrs

  15. His loss goes so much further than on the field, but it did open a roster spot for a kid. Odds are that kid will fumble the ball when given a chance (all greats do), and odds are he’ll do it in the field where his teammates will want to pick it up.

  16. The guy that made the prisons are so crowded comment, really? He could get life because he was organizing the distribution of kilos or cocaine!! What do u want him to get? Probation? He was a pro athlete and chose drugs. Stupid

  17. I’d rather see him get something like 5000 hours of community service where he can actually help his community than be sent to prison for years where the judge forces this burden on tax payers.

Pretty sure these are federal charges… he is going to do a minimum of 10 years, unless he cuts a deal and rolls over on a bigger fish. I suspect he is the “bigger fish”, because his cousin rolled over on him.

Did I say he should have probation? No. He should have prison time but a life sentence is beyond rediculous.
Sorry we can’t all be “morality police tough” like you, and be totally OK with giving him three hots and a cot on your dime for his life sentence.

How does the Bengals rap sheet compare ?Side by side ?Just asking… keep up the great work.

This is a comparison between the Cowboys and the Steelers. What do the Bengals have to do with this? There are teams around the league that aren’t on the same level as the Bengals, including the Cowboys.
