Ralph Wilson hopes to attend home opener

It’s not yet known specifically when the Bills will open their 2013 home schedule.  Whenever that happens, the team’s owner hopes to be there.

Mary Wilson tells the Buffalo News that her husband, Ralph, wants to be present for the first game of the year, after missing all of the 2012 season.

He’s doing really well,” Mary Wilson told Jerry Sullivan of the Buffalo News.  “He’s great.  Today is Friday, so he’s going to work out with his trainer.  Our goal is Opening Day.  Ralph wants to make the home opener.”

The 94-year-old owner last attended a game in November 2011.  The Hall of Famer founded the team in 1960 as part of the AFL’s launch.

We should all be lucky enough to make it to 94, and to still be involved with businesses that we started more than 50 years previously.

So we extend our best wishes to Mr. Wilson, and we hope he’ll be able to enjoy a win by the Bills, whenever they play their first home game of 2013.

God Bless him. A passionate owner in his last years just wanting to make it to see his team play. Unreal.

Ralph’s trainer is a former Navy Seal. He doesn’t mind having insults and curses rained upon him while he crawls through the mud on all fours, so much, but he just hates it when they turn the fire hose on him.

Thank you Mr.Ralph Wilson owner of the Buffalo Bills. If not for you, Billy Sullivan(Patriots), Lamar Hunt(Dallas,Kansas City),Bud Adams(Houston,Tennessee),Bob Howsam(Denver), Harry Wismer(New York), F.Wayne Valley and other investors, later the great Al Davis(Oakland),Barron Hilton(L.A.,SanDiego) we the fans would not have the amazing sports product we see each week. I hope the newer owners of some of these teams respect the hard work and sacrifices these gentlemen made to make the NFL what it is today. Sometimes it seems the new owners fluff themselves up at the expense of the old owners with some of the comments from their relatives and media.

I’m a Pats fan but I’m rooting for him to make it too.
One of my favorite most recent off the field scenes was seeing Marcel Dareus meeting him in his office.

Mr. Wilson, your 1964 and 1965 championship teams could have whipped anybody from the NFL.

All Wilson ever cared about was the bottom dollar.Never did he make it a priority to win at any cost.No way he belongs in the Hall of Fame.

You are absolutely correct. If not for Mr. Wilson, the NFL would not be the NFL we have today. See you at the first Home game Ralph!

I bet Lamar, Al and the rest will throw a huge party up there. The club will soon reunite. Thanks to all.

Not just in football, we’re losing an incredible generation. No one under 75 has a clue how things used to be.

Not a lot of people realize that Wilson went into his own pocket in the early days of the AFL to help keep several franchises from folding.
