PFT on NBC Sports Network: John Madden, Barkevious Mingo

Packers Camp Football AP

We’ve already heard NFL Hall of Famer John Madden call the late Pat Summerall a “card-carrying good guy,” but those of us who first came to love football listening to the two of them call games would love to hear more about their relationship.

Madden will join Pro Football Talk on NBC Sports Network on Wednesday to reminisce some more about his longtime broadcasting partner and friend. Summerall and Madden on the call usually meant you were watching the best matchup of the weekend and we’ll hear about the way things were on the other side of the microphone during Madden’s visit.

Erik Kuselias will also speak to projected first-round pick Barkevious Mingo. Mingo played defensive end at LSU, but teams are looking at him in a variety of ways as a rusher off the edge heading into the draft. We’ll find out what Mingo’s willing to share about any interest from particular teams when he joins the program.

And we’ll again end the day by asking PFT Planet for your choice of a topic. Dream broadcasting teams, restricted free agents and an opening opponent for the Ravens are all possibilities.

It all gets underway at 5 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network.

Geeze who names their kid “Barkevious”. No wonder he’s a tough guy. It was either be tough or be bullied throughout his childhood.

I seriously wish the NFL had announcers like Summerall working games now. Madden is a love him or hate him kind of guy, I think most fans were for him than against. But Summerall was outstanding. The buffoons working the live booths now are ridiculous and hard to put up with listening to. If the radio broadcasts of the games were in sync with the tv broadcast I’d much rather have the radio audio feed with the tv video feed.
