Packers linebacker Clay Matthews and Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers are both represented by Athletes First, the firm founded by Dave Dunn.
So with Matthews inking a long-term deal reportedly worth more than $13 million annually (we’ll believe that once the full numbers can be inspected and dissected), there is increasing speculation that Rodgers will get his new deal soon.
And that’s entirely possible, especially with Rodgers currently making $3 million less than Matthews. But one source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that the timing remains very difficult to predict.
The soonest it could happen for Rodgers is imminently. The latest could be the start of training camp, or possibly the start of the regular season.
The two sides reportedly are $2 million apart on the average value of a long-term deal, with the Packers at $21 million and Rodgers at $23 million.
