Over the course of his career, opposing teams have been the only ones to benefit from dropped passes by Packers tight end Jermichael Finley.
That won’t be the case in the 2013 season. Finley has followed in the footsteps of Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola and pledged donations to a Boston relief fund based on both his on-field successes and failures. Amendola said he’ll donate $100 per catch and $200 per drop to relief efforts and Finley took to Twitter on Thursday to announce a similar effort.

Stats Inc. lists Finley as having dropped seven passes last season. When you add that to his two touchdowns, that would mean $4500 in contributions to the effort. Packers fans and the fans of other NFC North clubs surely hope that Finley will be handing more money over to those affected by the bombings in Boston, although the two sides won’t share the same hope in how the bulk of Finley’s donation is made.
We have no dog in that hunt, but applaud Finley for joining the effort and hope his donation provides assistance regardless of why he’s writing the checks.
