Monday Night Football opens with Eagles-Redskins

Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has extra time to get ready for the opener.

At least an extra day.

The first Monday Night Football game of the year will feature the Eagles at the Redskins, by which time we’ll know if RG3 is ready to keep a fast pace in his return from a knee injury.

As has become tradition, ESPN gets to open with a doubleheader, with the Texans at the Chargers in the nightcap.

They also close strong, with an NFL Championship Game rematch (Falcons at 49ers) on Dec. 23.

Time has a way of making games that look good in April look bad later in the year, but it appears to be a solid slate for a network that has been left with some bad matchups in recent years.

The entire MNF schedule can be viewed here.

  1. The entire NFL has been put on notice by the Eagles. Eagles will drop 50 points, and allow 0 TDs vs the Redskins. I feel bad for the rest of the NFL.

Playing madden again huh? How about you win a Super Bowl first. You’ve been put on notice. Lol

  3. No surprise here. The Redskins are the most popular team in the sport and generate the most reaction of any team in professional Football. The best owner, GM, HC, QB, RB, LT, MLB and K in football. #GodsTeam

  4. How the hell did the Eagles get a Monday nighter to open the season? We were god awful last season and we have a whole new offense and defense coming in. Is this like everyone rubbernecking at a car accident or something? Quick, everyone look at the train wreck in Philly! Lol, I can hardly wait

I hope RG3 is healthy. I can admit that he is fun to watch

  5. So the Patriots play in one MNF game and their opponent is…….. the Panthers?

A confusing choice there. Especially considering the Patriots play in some of the biggest games of the year every year.

Also the Patriots playing the Ravens in week 16 is very strange. There’s a good chance that game won’t matter at all by then.

  6. Eagles win this opener! NFC east comes down to week 17 with Dallas vs Eagles and Giants vs Redskins, winner of these two games head into the playoffs mark my words!
    GO COWBOYS!!!

That is so true, cuz the Ravens will be the #1 seed already by then and have locked up the afc.

Yo let me get the phone number to the dude that sells you tree.,,,,,none of those dudes are the best.

  9. logicalvoicesays is back on the good stuff. you know why you got the eagles? it might be the ONLY chance you have of getting a win to start the season. skins are 9-7 this year tops. perennial super bowls? that would suggest you get there. even once. good luck with that.

  10. I can’t wait to see and hear redskins fans cry when RGKNEE either doesn’t play or suffers another setback in this game from trying to come back too quickly. Wake up redskins fan! Not the same eagles you’re gonna be playing. New D, new offensive system. Gonna kick you back down to the basement of the NFC east and hear you cry about not having any good drafts for the next 3 years because you spent it all on one player. Morons

  11. Lets see. MNF or the Kardashians ?Or maybe US OPEN Tennis ? Nah , watch Hardball, lots of hitting below the belt.No NFL rules on that…….yet

  12. An opening MNF game between 2 teams that won’t sniff the playoffs. Neat. An overrated do nothing QB that has never won a playoff game vs Vick – yawn…. worst game ever
