Prime time is ready for RG3

AP

The man who sold more jerseys with his name on the back than any player in any year in NFL history will have his jersey plastered all over prime time TV in 2013.

Assuming his knee is healthy enough to let him play.

The Redskins have five — yes, five — prime time games in 2013.

It begins, as MDS pointed out, in Week One, with the Redskins hosting the Eagles on Monday Night Football.  In Week Six, the ‘Skins emerge from a bye by traveling to Dallas for a Sunday night game.

In Week 10, the Redskins travel to Minnesota for a Thursday night game.

It’s back to Monday night in Week 12, with a visit from the 49ers.  Six nights later, the Giants come to town for a Sunday nighter.

All but the last game is set in stone; in theory, the game against the Giants can be flexed out by the NFL and NBC.

The Redskins have two other games scheduled to begin at 4:25 p.m. ET — at Oakland in Week Four and at Denver in Week Eight.

  1. U mean IRG3, and the Washed-up-ington Failedskins will win maybe 5 games top this year, supreme fail HTTR-horrible team the redskins

  2. RG3 is ready for another trip to the IR…..if he doesn’t change his style of play, he will get injured again and ruin a possible stellar career.

  3. I’m just happy the Eagles get him week one. I doubt he’s at 100% in week one so I could see Chip Kelly’s new look Eagles which the NFL would not have seen at all at that point stealing that one.

  4. Weak, soft, fragile, feeble, delicate, frail, tender, flimsy, wobbly, undependable, unsubstantial, limp, loser.

  5. And the haters come pouring in with their rediculous comments. I’m just going to sit back and laugh at you all. So mad you have no QB so you MUST complain by calling RG3 names. I eat it up. Lol!!!!

  6. The most popular team in football? HAHAHA not even on the eastcoast. Get real. Nobody cared bout the Skins til RG3 and that’s all they got. And he doesn’t take care of himself. Skins 6-10 next year

  7. Some of these posts are disgusting. I dont care who you root for. To root for a young man to get injured is beyond pathetic.

    Seriously grow up.

  8. So, the guy misses one game and it was due to a freak accident flipping into Ngata’s fatass and he’s suddenly fragile? Sure, he hluldnt have finished that Seahawks game, but y’all are some freakin haters! “Hope he gets hurt again”? F**ks wrong with you?? Obviously never played before. Stick to your Doughnut Bowls and RG3 will bag a couple Super Bowls. Noone was online 5 years ago talking about how the hope Brady can last a year after hurting his knee.

Looks at the stats. RG3 was hit more in the pocket than on Boots or Option plays. But it’s ok, you Internet Heros are the “experts” since you read article on PFT and ESPN. Obviously, well educated.

  9. Ye ye ye…learn the fight song everyone…
    Hail to the Redskins!
    Hail Victory!
    Braves on the Warpath!
    Fight for old D.C.!
Run or pass and score — we want a lot more!
    Beat ’em, Swamp ’em,
Touchdown! — Let the points soar!
Fight on, fight on ‘Til you have won
Sons of Wash-ing-ton. Rah!, Rah!, Rah!
    Hail to the Redskins!
    Hail Victory!
    Braves on the Warpath!
    Fight for ol’ DC!!

We are going to win Lombardi #4 and there’s NOTHING you can do about it but enjoy it!!! #GodsTeam

  10. RG3’s jersey may be the number one seller over the past year but I’ll bet most of those sales happened before he destroyed his knee in the playoffs.

Everyone I know gleefully agrees that Russell Wilson is the young superstar QB in the making. While Griffin saw his dreams of gridiron glory collapse on the barren rut filled moonscape known as FedEx Field.

  11. @13arod – if you don’t like the player or team, that’s fine…but don’t hope for injuries. that’s bush league.

  12. I’m glad Aiello got the schedule worked out. Peytonsneck…you are hater and a prick. The skins are deserving of the 5 prime time games and then some. Just remember that the Redskins #10 is best selling Jersey by anyone on any team in a years time. RGIII’s Jersey Peytonsneck!!! Not your soft ass teams name. Keep hating you haters. And by the way, you should change your users name from peytonsneck to peytonssack.

  13. Its soooo funny that logicalvoice thinks that its logical to assume the Skins can win the Superbowl when they haven’t even won a playoff game in almost 10 years.

  14. Hate hate hate. This is like the Hater’s Ball.

I look at the schedule and think RG3 isn’t going to start the season and the NFL knows it. Yeah they opne vs Philadelphia – the Lombardi-less team that finished in the basement last season. Then they play Detroit, GB and Oakland before a week 5 bye. This has Kirk Cousins and 2-2 at worse written all over it. They are just waiting for his knee to be healthy before starting up the tough stretch and primetime games.

You know, against all of the other division champions….because that’s who play each other….division champions….like RG3 and the Redskins.

    Come on Haters…hate hate hate.

  15. RG seems like a good guy. And I am already sick of him. Let’s see what he does when the NFL is ready for him.

  16. @inyofaceagain

    See 13arod’s post

and “thesteelers” post is pretty obvious as well.

I also think there is a difference in saying he needs to take care of himself and not get hurt vs. saying he is some super injury prone player.

At this point he has played in the vast majority of NFL games. I think he will always be a guy who plays 14 out of 16, but nothing shows he will miss large chunks of time on a consistent basis (yet).

And to the Seattle fans or R.W. fans…It is not an either/or competition. Both RG3 and RW can be and will be great players. You dont have to root for one to fail.

RW is my favorite player in the league. I am a mucher bigger fan of his than any seattle fan (or at least equal). I can root for RW to achieve every award in the world and I can do it without wishing bad things upon RG3.

  17. @inyofaceagain

10 years? The team won a playoff game in 2005. So if 7 years is almost 10 i guess thats accurate.

But more importantly, does team need a recent playoff win to win the next superbowl? Were not talking about a 2-14 turnaround here (though the Rams proved even that is possible).

Atlanta was 1 play from the superbowl and they had not won a playoff in how many years before this year?

  18. onbucky96, lol, I was thinking the same thing. did the NFL move its offices to Washington or Colorado? Kirk Cousins is going to see more primetime action than Manning, Rodgers, Brady, Ryan, Schaub, Brees, Luck or Wilson. now that’s funny.

  19. These haters are as bad as logical voice !! Jealousy won’t cause the Skins to lose games this year. U mad bro ? Lol. STILL the rookie of the year. STILL NFC East champions. And we are only gonna get better. Hate deez !

  20. With RG3 playing the Eagles in the 1st game I guess we’ll have to hold our noses and root for Philly.

If this keeps up RG3 will be the most hated player in the league in 3 years (assuming he’s still able to hobble on the field).

  21. The guy who is better than Peyton Manning gets a ton of prime time games……actually, Bob Griffin may be the best QB of all time….for real

wait……I just finished laughing……….hopefully he can play a full season

9 RG3 haters and then logicalvoice, 1 supporter.

What has RG3 done to get soooo much hate?
    ——————————————————
Ever hear of this kid “logicalvoicesays”? That’s why most people on this site hate the Redskins. RG3 just happens to be the face of the franchise, so he must suffer for the hate intended for “logic”. And, oh yeah, I’m a Giants fan, so I hate ALL the Skins, Eagles, and Cowboys. Its called rivalries.

  23. I’m a giants fan n there’s no question rg3 is a good Guy n a dynamic player, they’ll be flexed out of most of those games though cause Kirk Cousins ain’t that exciting, n no one wants to watch Washington later in the season with nothing to play for.

  24. 5 PRIME TIME GAMES !!!!!!!!!! GO AHEAD LOSERS. JUST HATE ON MY REDSKINS.!!!!!!!! HAIL TO THE REDSKINS.

  25. Are people seriously crying that the Redskins are on primetime? You act like ya’ll aren’t going to be able to see your times in your markets… it’s comical how many Redskins haters there are!

  26. They actually have an easy schedule. With orakpo coming back and drafting a safety to finally replace sean taylor they can take division again.
Seahawks eager to play a healthy rg3

  27. Last year it was he will be a bust. This year it’s IRG3. As if no other player has every been hurt. Can’t wait to read next year’s hater trend.

  28. I’m not a skins fan. RG3 was a better pocket QB than Andrew luck was last year. He is Insanely talented. Why all the hate? It’s enjoyable to watch that guy make incredible plays and carry his team to the playoffs last year. Here’s hoping he is back to full health and continues to make the extraordinary look ordinary. Plus he’s a well spoken normal guy. Lets go RG3!

    10 years?

Over 20 since their last Superbowl…

  30. Another 24,348 prime time games and they may be caught up with America’s Team. The Dallas Cowboys.

  31. One things for sure, you know Bob 3 sticks has arrived and created fear amongst the Skins rivals when you see all the hate posts. I hope he proves all doubters wrong and maybe more importantly I hope he is coached to slide and get the hell out of bounds more this year. HTTR!!!!!!!!

  32. The only good news for the Foreskins is that Cousins will get plenty of playing time on national TV and get them a nice pick in next years draft in a trade next offseason.

  33. rg3 got through nearly the whole regular season with his so called reckless play. if he just slides or runs out only a few more times then the chances of him playing the whole season greatly increase. i know if i took just one hit from an nfl defensive player im done for good and im in pretty good shape. so before u hate evaluate yourself and realize how much of a lazy troll u are compared to the time and effort griff has put in to become an nfl qb. dont be a critic until u actually did it.

  34. Well now we can watch their franchise Qb Kirk Cousins lose 5 times. By the way Raise your hand if your team has won 2 super bowls in the last 10 years.OK I see Pats, Steelers, and Giants hands. True franchises. No skins hands gonna be I while I guess.

  35. If you want the answer to why the deadskins get five primetime games all of the sudden, consider two facts:

    1. The kid is gold in Texas because of his Houston ties and Baylor days

    2. He’s the saviour of one of the leagues oldest, most defunct franchises.

There’s a reason he sells the most jerseys, and why the league thinks he’ll rake in the highest ratings.

U wanna prove them wrong? Don’t watch the games.

  36. Look at the lemmings. Yes he wears a funny mask, and is a hero to many White people that feel guilty. But geeze, watching him get injured is getting old.

  38. 13arod – You are a pathetic punk-assed loser.

rgledz – You are just pathetic. Anyone on your team as straight-up as RGIII ?

seahawkshurtpeople – You should try to meet more people.

    HTTR!
Yes, I said ‘R’ ! Get over it.

  39. As an outside observer, the Seahawks and 49ers have QBs with similar skill sets and better all-around teams. Not sure what makes Redskins fans so confident a Super Bowl win is in their future, particularly when you factor in the decision-making abilities of the organization. It’s been 21 years. Redskins fans should show some humility.

  40. Haha so I read these comments and all these haters are going to eat their words. Obviously you are hating on him for one of two reasons, you are either jealous, or you wish he was your qb. I find it hilarious, he already proved everyone wrong and rewrote the record books for a rookie, and almost had two perfect straight games. RG3 is a monster, and will come back and be just as good. But hey, I know you idiots hate on guys who are WAY more successful then you’ll ever be, seriously none of you could even hold his colorful socks. And it makes since to give them the most primetime games, they did have the highest ratings in primetime games last season haha not hard to figure that one out.

  41. I can’t wait for these prime time games so RG3 can once again send the haters on their way. Mouths closed, tails tucked, fingers static on their keyboard.
    #don’tbelievemejustwatch

  42. Dear PFT – one way to measure how good the ‘Skins are is by the number of haters who come out of the woodwork every time someone says something good about us.

Dear Haters – thanks very much for letting us know how good we are now. We sincerely appreciate your unhealthy obsession with us. By the way – helpful hint – please don’t forget to take that antacid before every prime time ‘Skins win. It’ll help with that sinking feeling you will get every time you watch us rip off another four-plus game win streak. Try to enjoy the season anyway.

    Sincerely,
    Washington fans

  43. Dumbazz, inyofaceagain, the Skins beat Tampa in the playoffs in 2005 when Gibbs was the coach. Before that, they won a playoff game in 1999 against Detroit. So, it was not 10 years ago dummy.

  44. I love how the title is “Prime time is ready for RG3.”

But the picture has Kirk Cousin in the shot standing right behind RG3 ready to go. A funny/not so subtle view on how most people (beside Skins fans of course) see this year working out.

  45. Whether you like RG3 or don’t like him, you better learn to love him, because he’s the best thing going today. Woo!

  46. Wishing, predicting or expecting RG3 to get hurt means nothing. The Skins are getting better. The networks see it. Skins fans see it. Only you dumbf.%%*s are blind. Get use to it. You just wish your teams were featured.

  47. “What has RG3 done to get soooo much hate?”

It’s not RG3 we hate. Seems like a really good guy. It’s the bandwagon, trailer trash fan base.

  48. I don’t see why RG3 is getting so much hate! The man goes out there already injured and tries to win a ball game for his team. Nobody else would’ve done the same. Give the man some credit. Why should you hate an idviual just because you hate the team? Also for everybody saying the Redskins will be 6-10, I beg to differ and say that they’ll at least be 8-8 this year, but most of all give RG3 the respect he deserves.

  49. Superbowl???? The best QB in the league?? Not!!! Come back to earth redkins fans, be humble , win games and playoff games, then put yourself in the upper echelon of teams, Luck knows he still needs to improve, does IRG3 think he does??? Arrogant ballcorn

  50. Had to recheck the headline of this post. Why click on it if your not a fan? Unreal so many neg comments! Go to a post on your team! 51. As a Vikings season ticket holder, I am thrilled about the opportunity to see RGIII in person and expect a fun game between both teams. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

  52. I don’t dislike RGIII at all, but I can’t say the same for these bandwagon BS fans. Use the word “hater” much?? Holy crap……I can’ t stand Packer fans, but Skins fans are a close second…..more like 1 and 1A for idiot fans. If being a “hater” means that I hate your crappy one and done in the playoffs, won the division in a weak division with a weak record team……than a hater I am.

  53. RG3 recieved so much undeserved praise last year by all the talking heads and sportswrtiters who just loved him while a real man like Russel Wilson just went out and played ball.

You never saw Wilson on no Subways or Adidas commercials and all them other products RG3 was shamelessly hawking.

No one was happy to see him destroy his knee but you had to wonder if the good lord wasn’t trying to remind him to be humble and sending a message to old rat face too.

Honestly, as a Redskins fan, I was a little nervous about fulfilling raised expectations in 2013, but nothing could possibly give me more confidence than hearing them called a “one-year-wonder” over and over again. Last Summer the Niners got the exact same thing: constant reminders of how they were going “back to the cellar” after one winning season. Now they’re no Right Said Fred, but I’m pretty sure they did pretty well in the Super Bowl for a one year wonder.

I’m not saying the Redskins are as talented as the Niners, or even a team capable of making a deep playoff run, but if there’s one way to give a fan base confidence, it’s to obsessively trash talk their team.

I’m sure everybody wants to respond to your trash talk, but you should probably learn how to trash talk in English first.

  56. Never seen so many fans of other teams with do do in their pants from the fear RG imposes.

The NFL KNOWS WHO BUTTERS THEIR BREAD, and his opponents fear he will dominate .

Tthink about it, if your an out of the DC Area Redskin’s fan you really don’t have to purchase the Sunday Ticket .

    Beauty!

  57. NFL needs to figure out some of these prime time games and learn from the past. If RG3 isn’t healthy (very likely) we can see maybe Nick Foles vs Kirk Cousins….When Manning went down we were stuck watching the Colts get clobbered on game after game on national TV.

  58. good stuff redskins! they’re deserving of prime time spots with the season they had last year. just hope that doesn’t put pressure on rg3 to rush things

Everyone reads most of the of the stories on here. What are you, a rookie to the site? We bash everyone on all stories.

No you didn’t beat my team, so grow up lil girl.

  62. I don’t really understand the big deal here. I guess since the skins have been out of prime time so long that this is a story. Check the schedule, the Giants have just as many prime time games. And if rg3 isn’t ready to go week 1 then the NFL made a blunder on that opener Monday night game. The opening Monday nighter is also prob the least primetime of all as it starts at 7 and is followed by a west coast game.

  63. Haaaaahaaaaaa, its just funny to hear how many times the word “haters” is used in these post, should make a drinking game out of it. The truth is when it involves the NFC east teams it always gets intense, should be a war this year.

  64. I see so much fear in these posts. Fear that a once strong, proud franchise is back on the rise. I’ve also seen many comments about the Redskins’ loyal fan base being called “Bandwagon and Trailer Trash”. This comes from people who are both uneducated and jealous because the Redskins have set records for the most consecutive home game sellouts, currently still counting. For two decades we haven’t had much to cheer about, but we still love our ‘Skins. Now, we know we have a legitimate shot due to the level of hate and jealousy.

    #HTTR #RG3BAAAABY

  65. Oh boy, here we go again. I have been stating over and over, you keep posting the hate comments, the skins faithful will continue to come on here and bite back. Also, please stop the comparison to Vick. There is nothing to compare. Bottom line, you have a young QB who had transcended the game last year with his style of play, and now they have skins playing prime time. What’s funny is all of the hater’s will sit with beer, and popcorn in hand to watch this kid play. As you can see based off all of these hate comments, he has become a big draw positively, or negatively and all the tv execs know this. Like it or not, this kid will be here for a while, so deal with it. HTTR!!

  66. It’s funny that there are so many haters on this site….it makes me laugh! As the old timers say, if you don’t have nothing good to say, then don’t say anything at all.

Now back to the subject at hand….the Redskins will be just fine. Won the division and made the playoffs with a $18 million dollar cap hit last year, and they’ll do it again this year with another $18 million cap hit!

    HTTR

  67. I’ll lay $ the Eagles smoke the Redskins in Week1. Gimp RG3 vs Kelly’s Eagles wanting to show the new coach and the world they’ve improved… I’ll put my $ on the Eagles in that one.

  68. There are a few reasons that I do not like the Redskins/Eagles in week 1.
    1) If RG3 does not play and the Eagles win the Skins fans will say, “But RG3 didn’t play.”
    2) If he does play and the Eagles win the Skins fans will say, “Well he wasn’t 100%.”
    3) If the Redskins win, Eagles fans will say, “They are still getting used to Chip’s offense/defense.”

I think the better guideline will come later in the year.

  69. RGbirdknees…this guy will never stay healthy for a full season…fact…fact…FACT. Shanahan knew it when he spent the very next pick on another QB after drafting him last year. Keep Cousins and trade your injury waiting to happen to the Bucs. They’re in the market for overhyped players with torn ACLs, I hear.

  70. I don’t wish injury on the guy but what a trip… I don’t understand where all of these skins fans came from. And every single one of them is a troll. It makes me wish failure on the team for that reason alone.

  71. I love people that believe a Pete Carroll team is going to turn the corner. There is a reason he’s been fired so many times. People, his reg season record is 58-54. His post season record is 3-4. Yet if you say anything bad about the Seahawks, you’re a Northwest hater. LOL. His team didn’t even win the division last year and the year before, it won with a 7-9 record. Honestly without last year’s 11-5 season, he doesn’t even have a winning record in the NFL period. Folks, maybe the Seahawks have a shot to be legit, but not with your current coach.

  73. I know this will get taken off but why would you wish for failure of a team because of the fans you perceive as “Trolls”. That’s like wishing no more sun ever because you got sunburn at the beach once. #Food for thought

  74. Just because the Redskins haven’t been very competitive over the last two decades doesn’t mean that Redskin nation isn’t alive and well. I remember a time when Seattle was on the brink of losing their NFL franchise due to a lack of community support. I guess your memories are short. On the other hand, when the ‘Skins played at RFK they had more than a 20 year wait list for season tickets. When Jack Kent Cooke built FedEx Field and made it one of the top capacity stadiums in the NFL the wait list was shortened temporarily but has since grown again, all while the product has been less than acceptable.
To say that Redskin fans are bandwagon is simply a feeble attempt at judging that which you don’t understand. C’mon Buttercup, put your big boy pants on and jump into the fray……

I love it when Seahawks fans express their opinions of hatred AND comparison of RGIII and their QB. I like Wilson, The Redskins had TWO smurfs on our squad once. Comparing the two is DELUSIONAL. I know the dank was legalized there but some of the HATING for FEAR of RGIII, CLIMB OUT OF THE BONG! If DisasteRuss is as GREAT as you claim why before RGIII was MORE injured were the Sins up 14-0? You are RIGHT to fear him! Keep the hate coming strong. It will only make it THAT much sweeter to talk trash IF the Hawks can MAKE it to the playoffs this season. No replacement refs to SPOT you any games this season. You STILL won’t see me posting any hate on Seahawks stories. I don’t HATE Russel Wilson, I like him. He’s got my respect. I DON’T fear him. At ALL. Keep hating it won’t help your team. All in for week one. HTTR

  76. Its amazing how ignorant hate comes out of people towards a man who has never hurt them personally. If RG3 was a player who came out to a game out of shape and played for nothing but the money people would be booing him off the field. RG3 gave his all and as a ROOKIE he made ROOKIE mistakes but he helped turn this team around. No one said you had to love the team but as a sports fan you should love RG3 love for the game and the excitement he brings to the sport. And for people who wish that he gets hurt again should be banned from leaving comments!
