Chargers sign Gronkowski the lesser

The Chargers signed a Gronkowski Tuesday, but not the fun one.

According to Michael Gehlken of U-T San Diego, the team signed former Colts and Broncos fullback Chris Gronkowski.

He’s also spent some time with the Cowboys, but the other two links are important, as he was in Indianapolis with new Chargers GM Tom Telesco in 2011 and in Denver with new Chargers coach Mike McCoy last season.

Chris is the brother of Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, but hasn’t approached his brother’s success. The former undrafted rookie from Arizona has five rushes and eight receptions for a grand total of 63 yards in three seasons, though he does have a touchdown.

“There is nothing to write about, you say. Well then, write and let me know just this – that there is nothing to write about.”

Seemed a pertinent quote, both for its message and its author.

I hope he blocks better for Rivers than he did for Romo…

Lesser? Why? What fullback gets a load of touches or thrown at more than a TE? The party animal gronk can’t stay healthy, but because this guy didn’t run for fifty or catch 20 balls he isn’t as talented as his bro? Anyway, had to come up with something to get peeps to read this nonsense..

  13. ambitoos says: Apr 23, 2013 3:50 PM

    Can he block?

  14. patriotenvy says: Apr 23, 2013 4:02 PM

He was undrafted. He missed a block that resulted in a hit that ended Romo’s season. He’s been cut and traded and now not tendered.

Is that normal for a successful fullback?

actuall romo paid him to miss that block so he would have an excuse .. to not play and get balmed for missing the playoffs again… lol

The guy who missed the block that got romo injured and missed the block that got dez injured? Nice signing!
