Giants RB Andre Brown signs RFA tender

Giants running back Andre Brown has signed his one-year restricted free agent tender with the club, a league source told PFT’s Mike Florio on Tuesday.

The Giants tendered the 26-year-old Brown at the second-round level. Before signing the tender, he had agreed to an injury-protection waiver in order to participate in workouts.

Brown (6-0, 227) rushed for 385 yards and eight TDs on 73 carries in 2012. With Ahmad Bradshaw no longer with the club, Brown and David Wilson are currently the Giants’ top two backs. The Giants have had success using multiple backs over the years, and Brown’s physicality complements Wilson’s rare speed quite well.

    This is a very subtle but good signing for the gmen. I think the tandem of wilson and brown will really elevate the giants running game.

    Love the 1-2 punch. Brown great short yardage guy too. They both need to shore up pass pro

    everyone wants to keep focusing on Wilson’s fumble in the openers but in reality it was Brown’s performance, until he got hurt, that kept Wilson on the bench.

    “The New York Football Giants” ; Have a better record last year if he does not get hurt when they were doing well!!

    The Giants have quietly done a nice job producing role-playing backs since Tiki Barber retired. Jacobs, Ward, Bradshaw and now Brown.

    That’s sort of why I was surprised when they spent a 1st rounder on David Wilson. Designed with Bradshaw’s exit, I know, but still

    Agreed. But there needs to be improvement on the line as well. If the Giants can progress to a top 5-10 rushing attack, that makes the passing game even more potent.

    It shows how bad the Giants are that they feature an RB who couldn’t make the Redskins. That’s all the Giants can do, take Redskins castoffs like Andrew Brown, Antonio Pierce and Lavarr Arrington. But who can blame the Giants for trying to copy the best franchise in NFL history?

    I hope Rg3 runs less than Alfred Morris cause if he doesn’t we all know how that’s gonna end up… I’m a gmen fan n I would hate to see anyone get hurt n can’t wait to see what flip does this year with brown

    @logicalvoice- you are funny.

    What have the skins done in the last 10 years? Any Superbowl rings of late? we have 2 and a few more NFC East hats than you do. So cherish the one you have.

    All your eggs rest with RG3 – he wont last long running around the way he does.

    @logicaltool….

    You say…”That’s all the Giants can do, take Redskins castoffs like Andrew Brown, Antonio Pierce and Lavarr Arrington. ”

    ….at least some of them have a ring now! And dude, your last SB win was January of 1992! George H.W. Bush was president and no one had barely heard of Bill OR Hillary Clinton!

    Greatest team in NFL history??? Pfffttt…they aint even the greatest in their own divison!

    BTW, last I heard 4 rings trumps 3…..

    NY Giants make my buhtt hurtt. IRg3 needs to stay healthy but he wont. We’ll go 3-13 next year; back to the bottom we come to the basement of the NFC east after last years one hit wonder.

    Hey Skins fans, take notice: RG!!! has woken up, he says “I learned last year not to do things I should not do”?
    paraphrased, one thing I’ll bet, he’s much smarter, and will not put himself at risking his entire career, and he becomes in time, kind of like
    of what Eli does well, moves out of the “way” at the last 2ND, ha.lol.
    So lets see: David Wilson; Andre Brown; Ryan Torain; Da’rel Scott; Henry hypo, Hynoski, yep, were going to run again, right through the skins; boys; and be gulls; and I love it!
    PS, Kid from Stony Brook, Maisonette is a Alfred Morris clone, giants will sign him. don’t tell, OK?

    Ctgiant I agree with you about Miguel Maysonet. If he could get a little more forward lean and lower his pad level {so he doesn’t get killed at the NFL level} he could be a nice late round pickup.

  22. turkjones says: Apr 23, 2013 5:02 PM

    Goodell and Jimmy Haslam will be BFFs by midseason

  23. kev86 says: Apr 23, 2013 6:58 PM

    Giants will rep the NFC East again. The Skins embarrassed the division in the playoffs last year. Drama queens. Eli knows how to get it done. It’s been proven.

  24. pigudong says: Apr 24, 2013 3:22 PM

    I hope “il”logical gets help for that drug problem. All the GIANTS have done with those Redskin castoffs is win 2 Super Bowls while the skins cant even win a playoff game
