Report: New Dolphins, Vikings uniforms leaked

8675150365_11ae1791d6_o

We got a look at the new Jaguars uniforms on Tuesday and it appears we’ve also gotten a glimpse of what the Vikings and Dolphins will be wearing in the future.

Paul Lukas of ESPN.com reports that a Jacksonville television station “that was taking photos of the new Jaguars uniforms at Nike headquarters” ahead of Tuesday’s unveiling erred and posted a photo that also showed the new looks for Miami and Minnesota.

The Dolphins’ biggest change is their logo, which has already been revealed. You can see a snapshot of the Vikings’ new duds at right, via Lukas’ Twitter account, which now include the option of purple pants. Minnesota is set to debut their uniforms on Thursday and they’ve already revealed a slightly different Norseman logo.

Neither look is a radical departure from anything that came before. We’ll leave it to PFT Planet to decide whether or not that’s better than what the Jaguars showed off on Tuesday.

As long as the collar is one color, I’m happy. I couldn’t stand that ridiculous look last year that make it look like they were wearing an oxford shirt under their jerseys.

  3. gloryfromheaven says: Apr 23, 2013 3:44 PM

I dig the non-matching uniforms like the Jags. Very different compared to most teams who have the same plain color from top to bottom…

  6. thestrategyexpert says: Apr 23, 2013 3:45 PM

First impression is that the Jaguars are the winners and those helmets look pretty badass. I might start liking the Jaguars if in addition to improving their uniforms they also run a smart draft. Jacksonville has a nice opportunity to take a big positive turn for the future. Now if only they could redo that Gabbert pick, what a major bummer and wrench into the whole plan.

  7. homerhanky82 says: Apr 23, 2013 3:45 PM

Throwback is the look everyone enjoys. Vikings nailed it, Jags back to the drawing board.

Give it a break, NOBODY thinks RG3 shoulda got MVP over Adrian last year. Peyton had a great runner up year but NOBODY was mentioning RG3 as a true MVP candidate. That’s just foolish.

  17. tdk24 says: Apr 23, 2013 3:49 PM

Not a fan of the purple pants. The Dolphins new uni’s look better. The old ones were classic and they did a nice job updating them without going overboard.

The jaguar uniforms are terrible. They look amateur. The new logo is better. The classic look the Vikings are rocking is the way to go.

  24. fusstr8tedfinfan says: Apr 23, 2013 3:56 PM

Wow Miami went all out! (Sarcasm) Oh well at least the traditionalist fans will be happy. I was really hoping for something a little more modern. Why do they even have to “Unveil” this anyway after the logo change, which is meh at best, the rest of the changes are barely perceptible up close let alone from the stands. Ahhh who cares what they wear anyway. The Miami Caliente win games and they wear almost nothing at all. Just saying.

  25. Matt says: Apr 23, 2013 3:57 PM

As a Raiders fan, I think the traditional powerhouses of the NFL should never change their uniforms. Dolphins should go back to their 60s/70s duds.

Raiders, Steelers, Niners, Packers, Dolphins, and Cowboys gear should always be classic. No crazy Nike reboots.

  29. citnetter says: Apr 23, 2013 4:02 PM

I like the flat, non-gloss, painted helmets. Those look much better then the gay glitter-metallic based helmets a lot of teams sport now. Dolphins and Vikings new uni’s look way better than the Jags uni’s, which look like they came from the Arena League. They’ll be changing again in another couple of years.

  32. weetsld says: Apr 23, 2013 4:04 PM

  54. whatjusthapped says: Apr 23, 2013 4:27 PM

Purple has always been a dreadful color for a football uniform. But the Vikings saw fit to match that with dreadful performances on the field so somehow, they have successfully aligned with their hideous color scheme.

Thank God we don’t have to look at it far into the post season as the Vikings either aren’t making the playoffs or take an early exit once they do get in.

These uniforms will look silly and dated in about ten years.

Meanwhile, NFL films will continue to show highlights from them in the old uniforms and fans will become nostalgic for them.

And teams like the Steelers and the Giants and, as much as I hate to say it, the Cowboys, will continue to look timeless.

  59. vikingsvoice says: Apr 23, 2013 4:38 PM

Hey, Peterson is an amazing Running back, he has racked up a ton of yardage against the Pack and deserves most of the accolades he begs for.

But as the team became more succesful the uniforms became more appealing to the fans. Winning makes everything look good!! Do anyone remember when the Broncos changed their uniform in 1997 and the uproar they received? All these teams need to do is be succesful and the look of the uniform will take care of itself.

  71. kevpft says: Apr 23, 2013 5:07 PM

I quite like the look of the Miami & Minnesota unis. Miami kept their essential look and colors and just made it all more elegant, while Minnesota stayed similar but tightened things up.

I really like the straight stripes on the Minnesota shoulders/upper arms – looks much more strictly-business/classic than the sort of curvy lines they’ve had there for a while. I generally don’t like matte helmets, but these look good from what we can see.

I don’t like the new Jags look. I never really liked their teal + gold scheme, but emphasizing the black only makes it worse. I think some kind of metallic matte gold and teal would have worked better. Maybe even a teal or gold helmet.

@djteknision1200 – Seahawks and Broncos jerseys are still awful. Same for the Pats and Bills. These 4 teams should go back to their older designs. Uniform designers had much better taste back in the day.

  78. alstottwastheman says: Apr 23, 2013 5:25 PM

Don’t get why everyone is hating on the new Jags jerseys. Just because they didn’t go the throwback route like every team is in every other sport? Does every team need to go back to whatever they were wearing in the 1960′s? Obviously traditional teams like the Packers and Giants could never do this because their jerseys truly are classic, but the jaguars are like 15 years old, if anyone should go more futuristic its them.

Nike is not in business to make bad looking clothes. If you’re a traditionalist and like what your team has had, just say so. But realize that there are those among you who want to see something new.

I absolutely detested the Hawks new look unis back in ’02, hated them. I didn’t watch games for half the season because of that. So last year, when most Hawks fans were gagging at the Nike threads, I was euphoric. But I’m still in the minority, because I like the grey pants with the blue jersey, or the all-grey uni.

But if you can’t get used to your team’s new look, take a look at the all-red pajamas the Cards once had. Suddenly, your teams threads won’t look so bad.

I think the 2-time SB champion Baltimore Ravens have made purple a pretty good color. Purple & Black anyway. Fun fact:they were the first team in NFL history to wear dark colors for both tops and bottoms.

  93. justintuckrule says: Apr 23, 2013 6:04 PM

The entire Jaguars existence is one big smishsmortion. The name is awful, the colors are awful, the uniforms are awful, the stadium is awful…its’ just awful all around.

Scrap the Jaguar, rename that team the Truckers or something, go red and black, throw a “J” on the side of the helmet and call it a day.

Rule 1 of team branding – forget TEAL!

Purple pants are fine as long as they never wear them with the purple jerseys. They did that once a few years ago and it looked like 11 Barneys running around the field.

    **************************************************

Marketing 101. They were trying to appeal to their core demographic.

  95. prmpft says: Apr 23, 2013 6:36 PM

not too bad on those – why does nike feel the need to change every friggin thing? I agree w/ Florio – the jags unis are ugly – but so are they!

  96. rextraordinaire says: Apr 23, 2013 7:03 PM

Enough with the teal Jacksonville, you can’t even buy minivans in that color anymore.

  97. rajbais says: Apr 23, 2013 7:19 PM

    Jacksonville changed theirs again????

Hope they do the same with the QB.

Get out of here with that cheaterson crap!! What are u saying he’s on roids? Or RGIII was cheated from the MVP trophy? Because show some evidence or even a rumor he’s been juicing. As for MVP Adrian had the best year for any running back EVER!!! 9 yards less than Dickerson with like 3o less carries. LOVE RGIII but he wasn’t breaking any passing records last season. Very deservent of the ROY but MVP no way BACK UP ITS AD’s and it ain’t going anywhere.
    THE BANDIT HAS SPOKEN.

The Detroit Lions throwbacks are the sweetest of all throwbacks. Very simple and eye-catching in terms of pairing silver and Honolulu Blue.

If I had my way, the next version of the Lions uniform should be the throwback with the old 1960′s secondary logo (the low to the ground, stalking lion) on the chest. That way the logo stays relevant for marketing purposes.

    That would look sweet.

  103. noring4youstill says: Apr 23, 2013 8:39 PM

And as a team they still suck. Unis don’t win championships

I can’t believe PFT commenters are still paying any attention to posts by logicalvoicesays.

He exists simply to stir the pot. Even Redskins fans don’t believe what he says.

If everyone would just skip over his posts and ignore him he’d eventually go away for good.

Leave it to Nike to ruin NFL uniforms like they’ve ruined college uniforms.

If any of you are making negative comments on the Vikes or Fins unis then you are just outright being a Hater. These are the most bland, generic changes possible ( kudos to Nike, I was actually scared that they would put a stripe of flashing LED’s or some other nonsense). As a Dolphin Fan for over 40 years, I can honestly say these look like Practice Uniforms, but it is still classy traditional. Not in love with the Logo, but a real fan gets over that quickly.. not like it’s our vote to change it back anyway.

Why shouldn’t logicalvoice be entitled to his opinion?
Packer fans have to constantly weed through Viking fan’s posts, spewing their hatred and HGH lies every single time there’s a Clay Matthews post on PFT.

    Oh, but that’s different, right?

If uniforms used in ONE game indicate core fan demographics (for starters that doesn’t make sense, but we’ll ignore that for now) I don’t even know what the Packers throwback uniforms they use multiple times a year say about their core fan demographic…oh wait. Yes I do.

  111. scmems07 says: Apr 24, 2013 1:16 AM

Things are always ruined when you try to do more than needed. Simple is not always a bad thing, vikes and phins uniforms are almost identical other than the stripes on the vikes and color, and they look great. Less is more.

  112. fantasyfootballguru12 says: Apr 24, 2013 11:02 AM

Rumor is that the Vikings will also be revealing an all black alternate jersey at their Draft Party!

  114. mpasse says: Aug 4, 2013 10:54 PM

What happens when you fix something that isn’t broken? The new Dolphins uniforms. They took the most interesting uniforms in the NFL and made them look like practice unies. However, corporate conservative types will probably gush about how “clean” they look, having had their personality removed. Tellingly, the only orange remaining is there to increase visibility of Nike’s corporate logo. Perhaps Nike’s sweatshops can’t afford orange die for anything but their logo.
