Revis got in one last workout at Jets facility

Revis

More details slowly are emerging about the inevitable but nevertheless stunning decision of the Jets to unload the best player on their roster.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, the Jets gave Tampa permission to give Revis a physical on Friday morning, which meant that the parameters of a deal essentially were in place. However, agent Neil Schwartz wanted to delay the trip to Tampa until hammering out the contract with G.M. Mark Dominik.

So while Schwartz handled that fairly important piece of business on Friday, Revis showed up for work.

Specifically, Revis made one last trip to the team’s facility for a rehab session on his knee. He told no one about the looming trade, but there was another risk. If Revis had done anything at the Jets’ facility to seriously injure his knee (or any other body part), the Jets would have been stuck with Revis for 2013, and the earliest the Bucs could have gotten him would have been in 2014, as an unrestricted free agent.
