Karlos Dansby and Bills will keep talking

Karlos Dansby AP

The Bills hosted veteran linebacker Karlos Dansby earlier this week for a visit that ended without a contract offer.

That doesn’t mean there won’t be a contract offer in the future, however. General Manager Buddy Nix gave an update about Dansby’s visit on Thursday and said that the team would continue to be in touch with Dansby in the coming days.

“He had a good visit,” Nix said, via the Bills website. “We liked him. It’s still ongoing. It’s not dead, but it’s not done either.”

With the draft about to start, there’s not much reason for the Bills to pull the trigger on Dansby immediately. There isn’t anyone else in hot pursuit now that the Bengals have signed James Harrison and the draft may bring them a linebacker they want more than they want Dansby.

There’s obviously a flip side to that where Dansby’s experience makes him an appealing addition regardless of how the next three days play out for Buffalo.

Baltimore should dump McClain and pick up this guy. Maybe not starter material anymore but they need depth at LB.

I wish the Cards would bring him back… I always liked him and with Washington out 4 weeks due to suspension, it seems like he would fit right in until he got back and then Dansby and Brinkley could play the other inside spot. Not sure why it wouldn’t work…

He’s still starter material. He’s just not upper-echelon payscale material…

Dansby will be a Chief, as soon as they dump Albert onto Miami.

Bills should sign him NOW! and let him know he’s wanted. Better than any rookie they will get in 3rd round or later. Don’t use up a valuable pick.

Jarvis Jones looks to be an option if they don’t go QB first. Otherwise, Dansby would be a great addition to the team. I can see him making the same type of impact as Nick Barnett did.

Sign him, Bflo. You need backers badly. Even a first rounder won’t solve all the problems. He’s a known product who makes plays and can make Mario, Gilmore, et al that much better.

Please sign with the Bills… this way we Dolphins Fans know for a fact that “our” Dustin Keller can blow by him as he did for many years.

This is my gut talking: the Bills will sign this guy; if it was dead in the water, you’d know it. It’s probably down to money and length of time, but I believe Dansby wants to be in Buffalo, and that the feeling is mutual. He’s still got a lot left, and he’d contribute in a major way.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Vikings get in the mix for Dansby.
