Browns trading for Dolphins WR Davone Bess

The Browns are trading for Dolphins receiver Davone Bess, agent Kenny Zuckerman confirmed to PFT on Friday night, calling it a “done deal.”

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and ESPN’s Adam Schefter previously reported the completion of the Bess trade.

Official terms of the trade are not yet known, but Schefter reported the Browns and Dolphins will switch fourth-round picks as well as selections in another round.

Bess, 27, caught 61 passes for 778 yards and one TDs in 13 games (all starts) for Miami in 2013. He joins a Cleveland receiving corps featuring the youthful Josh Gordon and Greg Little.

In the 5-10, 193-pound Bess, the Browns get a quick, productive, veteran pass catcher who’s racked up 321 receptions in five NFL seasons. He could add a nice dose of dependability and consistency to a passing game that has needed it after depending so heavily on younger receivers in recent years.

Great move. Surprised this happened…… The Browns will still win only 5 games this year

OK… ? for what. What are the details? Bess is going to be missed, but with Gibson the Fins will be fine. I bet the Fins get Swope for sure now. The problem with Bess is his Contract is up next year and he was gone anyway. So ,the Dolphins shed his $2.8M this year. I hope we get something good in picks

Going to miss Bess but he became expendable after the moves this offseason. Best of luck to him.

Top-notch hands. Cant pull away from defenders, but will catch anything and everything within reach. Sad to see him go. Good get by Cleveland

Josh Gordon in the 2nd round and Bess in the 5th round. Not bad.

Glad to see him gone from the AFCE. He killed the Pats almost every game they played against the Fins since he’s been there. Very very surprised the Dolphins were willing to part with Bess.

Like the man said Bess catches everything. Cleveland you have a very good player there.

All the best for bess, he was a solid 3wr he will help that offense get better.

Another dumb Ireland/Philbin move, but that is the norm these days. Ridding themselves of productive players and replacing them with less skilled and less talented players. Gibson is half the player Bess is. And the pick will be wasted as well. What a couple of know-it-all idiots we have running our team.

That was a great deal, the odds of the Browns finding a receiver of that caliber in that round are extremely low…..

Think this was a great deal. Shed the salary and got to move up on some picks. People need to see the vision. The whole philosophy has changed. It is all about speed. Wallace, Hartline who is sneaky fast and now Gibson. The top defensive player in the draft and one of the top cbs who is fast. The new LBs. I like the vision.

Good pickup for my beloved Browns. I always did like Bess now maybe this year I can do well with him in Fantasy. Gorden & Bess in this draft, not bad.

    Go Browns!

Browns basically switched 4th round picks and gave a late 5th round pick for a 7th round pick. Not a bad move at all for the browns.

How many times do fans watch as the highly touted wr drops a perfectly thrown ball that would have mattered. This guy catches them and that is worth a lot. He is a proven player.

Instantly the best hands on the Browns. Good get, Cleveland.

I think Bess was worth more, but everyone knew Miami was looking to unload Bess.
