The Packers announced their extension with Aaron Rodgers on Friday afternoon and now we’ve got the first reports about the value of Rodgers’ deal.

Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Rodgers signed a deal worth $110 million over five years that will kick in for the 2015 season and run through 2019. With a per-season average of $22 million, Rodgers has highest average annual salary in league history.

He’s also making more than the $20.1 million per year that Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco will be playing for under the terms of the deal he signed earlier this offseason. Albert Breer of the NFL Network also reports that Rodgers will make $62.5 million over the first three years of the deal, which is $500,000 more than Flacco will make over the first three years of his deal in Baltimore.

And Breer’s colleague Ian Rapoport adds that Rodgers will be making $40 million in the first year of the deal. That matches the $40 million that Drew Brees got in the first year of the deal he signed with the Saints last year.

Basically, it’s a lot of money any way you choose to look at it.
