Bucs get William Gholston for Aqib Talib

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have traded Aqib Talib for William Gholston.

The Talib trade happened last year, but today they spent the fourth-round pick they got from the Patriots on Gholston, a defensive end from Michigan State who has good size (6-foot-7, 278 pounds) and moves well for a big man.

Gholston is an outstanding athlete who is capable of being an extremely disruptive presence on the defensive front, but he often appears to take plays off, and the knock on him at Michigan State was that he was too inconsistent. In fact, there’s some talk that Gholston is a lot like his cousin Vernon Gholston, who was the No. 6 overall pick of the Jets and turned out to be a major bust.

The good news for the Bucs is that they didn’t spend the sixth overall pick on him, they spent the 126th overall pick on him. Late in the fourth round, Gholston is a talent worth taking a chance on.
