Report: Patriots trade of Jeff Demps is “imminent”

While many teams are trying to trade older, expensive veterans they’ve drafted over the top of, the Patriots appear set to move some young, cheap help.

According to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, a trade of running back Jeff Demps is “imminent.”

The report states that multiple teams are involved in the talks, but that a trade seems likely to end Demps’ short time with the team that signed him. Demps wants to continue to run track, and the Pats don’t seem inclined to sponsor extracurricular activities.

They signed him in August, but he spent the year on injured reserve.

“Jeff is going to do both football and track, and there are teams that won’t have a problem with that, said Daniel Rose, who represents Demps.

At this point, anything they get for him is a bonus, if they’re not willing to work with him.

The same talking heads who openly mock the possibility of a Tebow trade will sit there with a straight face and pretend that the patriots are going to get something for Demps.

Well, they just traded for Blount so it’s obviously going to happen.

This guy wouldn’t even be mentioned anywhere if he wasn’t a Patriot.

Eight years and counting for the perennial favorite to win it all.

difference between Demps and Tebow is the fact that Demps has the one thing that coaches cannot teach:

    speed.

Any coach can try to pick up an undrafted FA FB that can throw occasionally.

    ….2 years removed.

The Pats dumped a guaranteed contract with two years left (short money) and a player who sees football as a second job. If Blount’s career can be rehabilitated great. If he can’t, the Pats save some salary cap.
