While many teams are trying to trade older, expensive veterans they’ve drafted over the top of, the Patriots appear set to move some young, cheap help.

According to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, a trade of running back Jeff Demps is “imminent.”

The report states that multiple teams are involved in the talks, but that a trade seems likely to end Demps’ short time with the team that signed him. Demps wants to continue to run track, and the Pats don’t seem inclined to sponsor extracurricular activities.

They signed him in August, but he spent the year on injured reserve.

“Jeff is going to do both football and track, and there are teams that won’t have a problem with that, said Daniel Rose, who represents Demps.

At this point, anything they get for him is a bonus, if they’re not willing to work with him.
