The Bills grabbed one of the prime undrafted free agents on Saturday night when they signed former Tennessee and Tennessee Tech wide receiver Da’Rick Rogers.
Rogers’ talent made him worth taking at some point during the draft, but the red flags attached to his departure from Knoxville made teams pass on the chance to see if Rogers could get his act together. At the cost of a spot on the 90-man roster, though, signing Rogers was a low-risk move by the Bills to look at a guy with enough ability to help their receiving corps.
The other 15 additions to the roster don’t have quite the same upside, although they did add one more quarterback to the mix. The team signed Jeff Tuel of Washington State, who finished his college career as the school’s leader in completion percentage. He’s probably looking to earn a spot on the practice squad behind first-round pick E.J. Manuel and Kevin Kolb with Tarvaris Jackson perhaps figuring into things as well. Quarterback Aaron Corp was released by the Bills along with tackle Adam Grant, kicker Chris Koepplin and tight end Joe Sawyer
The rest of the new Bills are: Richmond running back Kendall Gaskins; Albany fullback Drew Smith; Stony Brook wide receiver Kevin Norrell; Eastern Washington wide receiver Brandon Kaufman; Pittsburgh center Ryan Turnley; Syracuse guard Zack Chibane; Catawba cornerback Jumal Rolle; Missouri cornerback Kip Edwards; USC cornerback Nickell Robey; Howard linebacker Keith Pough; Georgia Tech defensive end Izaan Cross; California defensive tackle Aaron Tipoti; Lane cornerback Vernon Kearney and Towson defensive back Jordan Dangerfield.
And, should you be wondering, listing Dangerfield last was not a sign that we give his chances of making the Bills no respect.
