As teams line up to say they’re not interested in quarterback Tim Tebow, Lions G.M. Martin Mayhew left the door open a crack.

In an interview with 97.1 The Ticket in Detroit, Mayhew didn’t completely rule out pursuing Tebow.”I feel good about our quarterbacks right now,” Mayhew said. “We’ve got four on our roster and we typically go with four. But I’m the kind of guy who never says never.”

Mayhew would be less likely to not say never if Tebow is willing to do something other than play quarterback. Especially since Mayhew has no inclination to let Tebow run a change-of-pace offense.”

We like our starting quarterback and we like him on the field,” Mayhew said of Matthew Stafford. “I like him on the field 100 percent of the time.”

Currently, the Lions have Stafford, Shaun Hill, Kellen Moore, and undrafted free agent Alex Carder under contract.
