Kaepernick racks up the endorsements

Jaguar

David Whitley apparently won’t be buying a Jaguar.

49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, whom Whitley criticized last year for his extensive collection of skin art, has been piling up the endorsements.

Via CSNBayArea.com, Kaepernick’s current sponsors include Jaguar, MusclePharm, and MoGo Sport, a company that makes flavored mouth guards.

The newest endorsement comes from Jaguar, which is rolling out a $92,000 convertible with a 495-horsepower engine and a top speed of 186 mph.

Ink or not, Kaepernick has become one of the most popular young players in the NFL.  And since he can’t get a new football contract until 2014, he may as well earn as much as he can elsewhere.

I feel like getting to the Super Bowl should give you the chance to restructure your contract. Although this does help the 49ers I guess.

Kaepernicking is kind of like the opposite of Tebowing, instead of, presumably, giving thanks to God, it’s this weird vain gesture of self-worship. Similar to something Thunder-lips, from Rocky III, would do. (And yes, Thunder-lips was awesome… because it was Hulk Hogan!)

  7. inyofaceagain says: May 3, 2013 2:17 PM

I know I was in the minority pointing out that Kaepernick hasn’t even played close to a full season, and doubting his abilities.
All I know is I won alotta $ on taking the Ravens in last years Superbowl.
Not saying Flacco is better, I don’t think highly of him either. But last years Ravens D was just phenomenal. Now that they are dismantled, SF easily has one of the best defenses in the NFL.
I just don’t really believe Kaepernick is a winner.
Watch how he handles a full NFL season, getting hit, dealing w slumps and injuries, etc. There just isn’t enough of a body of work to call this kid one of the greats. Not yet at least.

Imagine if he won the Superbowl? He’ll be the NFL’s equivalent to Jordan with the way he overcame those huge deficits in the playoffs.

I’m surprised Nike hasn’t swooped him up and made a shoe line after that Kapernicking Logo like Jordan’s Jumpman logo.

  17. dwarftosser says: May 3, 2013 2:24 PM

He deserves everything he gets. He looks to be by far the best passer of the RG3/Russell Wilson/Cam Newton style QBs out there, and the 49ers are going to be really good as long as this guy stays healthy.

Last year’s Ravens D was mediocre at best, and among the worst they’ve ever ever had. They finished 17th overall and had some atrocious games. SF was already significantly better on D last year. The Ravens won last year because of the offense.

To the haters expecting Kaepernick to fall on his face in 2013 . . . it isn’t happening. Stupid argument #1 . . . CK can’t be that great because he couldn’t beat out Alex Smith as a rookie in 2011 . . . with no training camp coming off the lock-out . . . the same QB who took the 49ers to the brink of the Superbowl that season. Stupid argument #2 . . . he’s going to regress after teams have a book on him . . . uh no, he’s going to be better after a full off season taking the #1 QB reps . . . something he has yet to experience. Also, go find the last time a Harbaugh coached QB regressed at any level . . . I’ll save you time . . . it’s never happened.

Annual amount of U.S. spending on tattoos $1.65 Billion

Percentage of U.S. adults 18 – 25 who have at least one tattoo 36 %
Percentage of U.S. adults 26 – 40 who have at least one tattoo 40 %

inyofaceagain, obviously you didn’t watch my Ravens until they played the Niners because that defense was FAR from phenomenal. 17th in yards allowed? Just inside the top 12 in points allowed? While their d was opportunistic with turnovers as they always are, being in the bottom half in yards allowed is not phenomenal. Ray Lewis was obviously on his last legs, Suggs was still banged up, and the only thing Ed Reed was good for was trying to disuade QBs from throwing deep on his side of the field (and Ed Reed is my favorite player of all time). The Ravens defense will be a top 10 unit again this year with Webb and Suggs at full strength and the additions of Dumervil, Elam, Arthur Brown, and some solid additions throughout the d-line.

No level headed 9ers fan would say he’s arrived. I’m sure he’s got a lot to learn but he’s in a good situation. Meanwhile, I’m sure you’ve broken the tape on him and just saw that he never had to look for 3rd option.

For all those guys negative on him, I have a question. When was the last time you saw a QB (let alone a rookie) get his team back from 22 points down on the biggest stage of the game? Did you see him lose his composure or hyperventilate?

Instead of being negative on him, why not appreciate a great talent who’s still learning and would expect to become better.

  76. juliusanonymous says: May 3, 2013 4:31 PM

As a Seahawks fan, it makes me feel GREAT to see that my QB is quietly working his tail off, and still being humble. Telling everyone who will listen how he needs to improve.

Then I go online and see my main rival’s QB kissing his bicep in front of a Jaguar sports car. LOL. Awesome.

Can’t wait to make him cry again in September. Dude fell apart in Seattle. Can’t handle pressure. If you thought last season’s whooping was bad, just wait til September for our home opener – when the 12th Man will be screaming their lungs out and our defense is itching with an unquenchable thirst for blood. Little doof-boy won’t be kissing anything other than the turf. Maybe he’ll throw a couple more picks to Sherman, and then kiss his own shoe.

All I know is he is fun to watch, and actually seems like a decent guy. According to NFL Network, this guy is every bit the Christian Tebow is, he’s just a way better QB, and not as vocal. So, you base your piece of trash comment on him loving his neighbor as he loves himself, or turning the other cheek when people like you spew rediculous accusations at him? There does seem like one piece of trash between you and Kaep, but it’s not Kaep. If You don’t like the team he plays for that’s fine, but throwing hatred at someone over a game (the greatest game) is rediculous. GROW UP PAL!

His Mechanics are actually NOT GOOD.
    _____________________________

I’ve coached high school QB’s for a couple years now and have gone to any QB mechanics clinic I could over the last few years. Most QB coaches are constantly preaching footwork. The actual arm mechanics are only a concern if the delivery is too slow or if it’s inefficient in the sense that it’s overworking certain muscles in the back/shoulder/arm. Kaepernick’s delivery is unorthodox and looks long because how far back he reaches with the ball but it’s faster than most QB’s and he finishes with his triceps parallel to the ground, his elbow and nose of the ball pointed forward. He’s almost always got his heels off the ground and his knees bent, and he’s really more of an over-the-top thrower than people realize. He’s also not an “arm” thrower unless he’s in a situation that doesn’t allow him to plant his feet, but if you watch video on him, you’ll see he follows through with his shoulders and hips on pretty much every pass, so he’s not just throwing with the arm.

I like his determination, his desire to become one of the best in the league, his never give up attitude. Hearing his story and how he grew up made me want to root for him. Total percent of Americans (all ages) who have at least one tattoo 14 %———– alll ages?? Including kids under 18??? Of course this is only 14% … my goodness ..

Percentage of U.S. adults 18 – 25 who have at least one tattoo 36 %
Percentage of U.S. adults 26 – 40 who have at least one tattoo 40 %

As you can see it’s not even close to “the large majority”, your opinion is not fact!……..on let’s say I am willing to enretain you trying to rebut the fact that tats are not a big part of today’s culture…

    ——

I’m not surprised that 49ers don’t regard us as a rival. You definitely DON’T compete with us – unless you consider a 42-13 beatdown some kind of competition. I’d agree that you definitely DO compete with the Cowgirls as one of the most futile franchises in the modern NFL, still living off stuff that happened multiple decades ago.

Since the Seahawks joined the NFC West, we’ve won the division more than the 49ers, won more playoff games, been to the SuperBowl (and lost) just as many times – so honestly, there’s no reason for us to consider you our rivals. You haven’t earned that yet. To the Seahawks, the 49ers are the bums of the NFC West, with only the last two seasons being any good at all. Before that, you were even less relevant than the Cardinals and Rams. I mean, at least the Rams kept it interesting for 4-5 seasons.

But yeah, I hope you guys can pick it up a bit so the game in September in Seattle will be at least slightly competitive. I kinda felt ripped off paying all that money to go watch your 49ers get beat like a readheaded stepchild and not even put up a fight.

In games where defenses took away that first pass option off the read option, most of these read option qbs struggled mightily. (see RG3 vs Pitt). Sooner rather than later, defenses will figure it out and force the read option qbs to become conventional drop back passers. Although the read option is great now for these qbs confidence, I think that the offense is actually retarding their development and may actually ruin them b/c they will have no idea how to play conventionally once r-o is solved.

Well, we’ll just have to agree to disagree. Kaepernick has played many a games where there were either none or one or two read option plays. He’s had pretty good success as a drop back passer.

I think it’s too early for this Kaep to be getting crazy endorsement deals, despite making the SB.. For all I care, he may have been a 1/2 year wonder at that.. Don’t take me wrong, I like the guy & I wish him well, but I hate seeing player’s having this much affect having only played a “few” games, even a season at that.. IMO, 2yrs of good/significant play makes A LOT more sense.. 9er fans shouldn’t get too over-hyped with this news, while there seems to be more cons coming out of this than there are pros.. Look at the facts: He’s young, & making ALL this money “OUTSIDE” of football can/will create an ego (not always a good one might I add), arrogance, selfishness, etc, which could result in a bad performance the following year..
**Off Topic: All it takes is “1″ team to lay the foundation down for these player’s, be it refusing to give in to a player’s wants (i.e. coming off only 1 good year & asking to be paid top dollar), & I firmly believe the other 31 teams will follow.. Then again, that’s kind of asking for too much in today’s NFL, but I did enjoy the way FA was approached after a few big signings (stupid one’s usually)..
I’m NO Pats fan, but I actually commend the Organization for knowing when to get rid of a guy at the right time & not giving in to his wants or desires.. Those specific players are usually non-deserving of it anyways, & the result is typically a bad one!

The Dolphins did a good job in bottling him up on all but one play last season. Sacked him a plenty too.

This whole spread/QB run rage will go the way of the wildcat and he’ll need to win in the pocket.

Will he? Can he? Time will tell. Plus, the dude has a pet turtle. That is all.

Kaep is a good young QB who will flourish inside the pocket just as well as if he runs the read option.

Besides, we 9er fans don’t regard seahawks as a rival. You actually have to win a superbowl or two to belong in the same sentence. We actually compete with Cowboys, Steelers, etc.

    ______________

You sound even dumber than the person you’re responding to with your goofy overreach. I’ll take SF’s overall body of work over SEA’s any day and so would any objective sports fan.

Steve Largent is the closest thing to a household name that SEA has. How dies he stack up to Jerry Rice? Ummm he doesn’t. Was he even better than Terrell Owens? Matt Hasselback? Decent QB but was he really any better than Jeff Garcia or Alex Smith? He certainly wasn’t a Steve Young or a Joe Montana.

SF is currently SEA’s biggest obstacle to both a division title and anything beyond that, idiot. Even the members if your team know that.
Your team did NOT participate in the NFCCG or the Superbowl, right? Right.

    SF
    6 SB appearances (5W, 1L)
    6 NFC Championship titles
    19 NFC West division titles
    25 playoff appearances

    SEA
    1SB appearance (0W, 1L)
    1NFC Championship title
    0AFC Championship title
    5 NFC West division titles
    2AFC West division titles
So much of an afterthought that SEA was made to switch conferences. Try that with the PITT or NE or DAL or NY or SF.

Real amazing history you have there. Maybe you just began watching football 7 years ago.

Drive carefully Kaepernick, no need to do something dumb and dangerous in a car that fast.

495 HP was a lot of power 10 years ago. My blown Camaro would smoke it. I know it’s not a Jag but after 3 years, it still starts everytime and all of the electronics still work which is more than Kaep will be able to say about his Jag in 5 months. But hey free car, why not? When it breaks I’m sure he can drive his other car.

Everybody want to be rich, I say go ahead, I’m not looking to be rich, I’d rather just be me and not be the center of somebody’s fantasy life.. that said I’d love to be a quarterback for the niners, they wouldn’t have to pay me huge, cause I’d make my money in the real world like the Kaeper is doing!
He deserves a huge contract, but he isn’t going to break his team to get it!! Flacco and Rogers and Manning and Bees and all these QB’s have the Bucks now, but their teams stink! See a pattern here??
