Tom Heckert to join Broncos front office staff

Tom Heckert

Former Cleveland Browns general manager has landed on his feet with the Denver Broncos.

According to Albert Breer of the NFL Network, Heckert will be assuming the role of director of pro personnel vacated by the departure of Keith Kidd.

Kidd did not have his contract renewed by the Broncos following the completion of the NFL Draft.

Heckert previously served as general manager of the Philadelphia Eagles from 2006-2009 before being hired in the same role by the Browns in 2010. Despite being general manager of the Eagles, Andy Reid still had final say over personnel decisions. The move to Cleveland was Heckert’s first opportunity to call the shots himself.

Heckert was relieved of his duties with the Browns at the end of last season. Kidd had served the last four seasons as the Broncos director of pro personnel following head coach Josh McDaniels over from the New England Patriots in 2009.
