The Chargers, as is increasingly becoming common practice around the league, have moved quickly to start getting their draft picks under contract, announcing Thursday they had reached deals with four rookies, including linebacker Manti Te’o.
While Te’o endured a drama-filled lead-up to the draft and went unselected in Round One, he has landed with a team that has big plans for him. The 6-1, 241-pound Te’o has a strong chance at starting at inside linebacker for the Chargers, who moved up in the second round to take the former Notre Dame star.
In addition to signing Te’o, the Chargers said they finalized deals with California wide receiver Keenan Allen (Round Three), Florida International outside linebacker Tourek Williams (Round Six) and Southern Utah quarterback Brad Sorensen (Round Seven).
