The Colts made a trade on Thursday, sending center A.Q. Shipley to the Ravens for a conditional 2014 draft pick, and they also signed two more members of their 2013 draft class.
Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star reports that the team has signed guard Hugh Thornton, a third-round pick, and running back Kerwynn Williams, a seventh-round pick, to contracts. Safety John Boyett and tight end Justice Cunningham signed their deals with the team on Wednesday.
Thornton played left tackle at Illinois, but all projections have him moving inside with the Colts. Indianapolis signed Donald Thomas as a free agent this summer and he should start at one guard spot, but the other one should be open for competition between Thornton, Mike McGlynn and Jeff Linkenbach.
Williams probably won’t be fighting for a starting spot, but he’s fast and he caught passes well at Utah State. On an offense with Andrew Luck at quarterback, those things should get him at least a look at camp this summer.
The Colts have three more picks left to sign with rookie minicamp starting on Friday.
