Steelers promote Phil Kreidler to college scouting coordinator

The Steelers have promoted pro /college scout Phil Kreidler to college scouting coordinator, the team announced Thursday. Kreidler has been a Steelers scout since 1992.

Ron Hughes, the club’s college scouting coordinator since 2003, will now serve as a special assistant in college scouting for the Steelers.

In other scouting department moves announced by the Steelers Thursday, the club named Mark Bruener to the position of college scout, Mike Butler to the post of BLESTO scout, Dan Colbert to a full-time college / pro scout position and Dave Petett to a pro / college scout post.

Bruener, who played tight end for the Steelers, was the club’s BLESTO scout the last two seasons.

According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Mike Butler is the son of Jack Butler, the Hall of Fame Steelers cornerback, while Dan Colbert is the son of GM Kevin Colbert.
